Hi Kendee, If you go to Mom Owned businesses on this site, I own My Dragonfly Designs. Call me and I can give you some ideas! No problem! Best, C. P.
Yes my husband and I are doing some remodeling in our house and I am ready to purchase new furniture, however, I am not a decorator and don't know what colors I should use in my fabric on the couch and chair. Do you know of someone/somewhere that could consult with us on what colors would go well with the color I am painting my walls and would match my nice ceramic tile floors? I don't know exactly who would be able to do this and I am not looking for someone to actually do it for me, I would like it to be me doing it though and not pay for a service. This will be our first time buying furniture too.
I appreciate all of the responses. I took each and everyone's advice. I have picked out the colors I am going to use which will complement my tile and figured out the furniture I think will go nicely. I will still set up a date with one of you for some accents and such. Again thank you.

we've had some great luck at NE furniture. We took out paint chips and measurements of the room, and each time got a hold of a salesperson who was a HUGE help. One lady really impressed us so much that I kept her card...Debbie Callahan was her name. Otherwise, Ethan Allen does do a consultation for free, but with alot of pressure. I actually had to get nasty with one of the decorators but thats a whole other story lol
I have used Basset furniture in the past. You select the furiture you want and then choose from their fabrics to cover them in. Some of the fabrics have suggested paint colors.
Have you tried looking at magazines and trying to duplicate what you like. I did this with pottery barn in my dinig room. Pottery barn also has paint swatches you can order thru the catalog. If all else fails the you can hire a decorator to make suggestion. Good luck!
I'd take a tile and your paint swatch to whatever furniture store and just start looking around. Find the style of couch whatever that you like and then look at the available fabrics. You'll be able to see what looks good.
I've always like Crowley Furniture in Liberty. They have a good selection and the sales people are very friendly and helpful. Also, could you just take a friend with you? Another set of eyes and ideas would probably make you feel better. Especially a friend who is into art or something. They have great eyes for color!
Good luck!
I would just take your wall color and tile color to a furniture store and ask a consultant/sales person. I would think that anyplace would offer free advice or help if you're in the store. While I don't think you're rude for assuming, I doubt there is somewhere that will send someone to your house for free. Maybe call a couple places you have bought furniture from or places you like what they have and see if they'll bargain with you if you buy your furniture through them. I subscribe to Domino magazine (for interior styles) and usually get GREAT ideas from it (even if I can't afford some of the pieces they show!) Good luck!
People go to school to learn their trade, which in this case is interior decorating. I honestly think that it's rude for people to think that they should get anything for free when someone else has sacrificed a lot of time and money to learn how to do something. I know you don't feel like you are asking much. And maybe in the design field they give a brief free meeting like they do in the attorney world. But I wouldn't count on that.
If you want free advice get some magazines about home decorating and learn what color schemes go well together by looking at the pictures of finished rooms. You can probably search online for the same.
