I have been IRKED today. I dislike being Irked and rather just have a nice warm Friday. My IRK is with people that say they are going to do something then not show at said time, and nonchalantly text an hour later saying "oops well things ran longer than usual, my kids were not cooperating, so I cant be there for 4 more hours or so"

yeeeeeah. IRKED.

Have you had your IRK today? please share.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Mellissa yeah that is totally, 100% Irksome. I hate it when I am drooling all the way home and then do something like that. Just a few days ago I am so hungry for a Chili Cheese Burrito from Taco Bell, and I had it open and ready for consumption, just when a JA pulls out in front of me on his cell, I slam brakes, and DARN Burrito is now a new window sticker on my windshield. Gooey mess staring me in the face all the way home, I half wanted to scoop it off and eat it for kicks.

Yes, I have been majorly irked today. A good friend called to tell what a wonderful thing her soon to be ex husband is doing (helping financially.) Oh, you mean the guy that left you for another woman and hasn't paid the house or car payment for the past three months but demanded equal visitation with the kids? That wonderful guy? The one that makes the promises to pay this or that and then doesn't? That guy? Ugh. She tells me the horrible things he does and then is the first one to defend him if you agree. Lord give me strength. Thanks for letting me vent!

I went to Chic-fil-a for lunch today, which I only do once in a great while. I had a coupon for a free small milkshake so I opted for the limited time banana pudding flavor for dessert along with my normal #1 that I order, yumm!

When I pulled into the parking lot at work I was so excited & was figuring out how to carry in my keys, my bag, my sweet tea AND my milkshake, but it was all coming together for me. I picked up the milkshake last & the lid popped off of it spilling about 2/3 of it onto the side of the seat of my new car, the back of my pants & all in where the emergency brake is. Oh, and the cherry fell out & landed underneath the drivers seat on the carpet.

So after hollering obsecenities for a little bit I set about the task of using every napkin I could find in the car to clean it up & toss into the plastic bag I luckily keep in the car for all trash. Now I just have to spend the rest of my workday with sticky-banana-butt jeans. And I only got a few swigs of my milkshake which I'm certain didn't taste as good to me as it would have if this whole incident hadn't happened.

Yeah, I've gotten my irk on today for sure.

My IRK was the *corporate round table* I was in from 11 - 12 today. You know..... where the manager 2 levels above you wants to *get a feel for the pulse of the organization* and *really get into the weeds and figure out solutions*.

But then when you *constructively* point out areas that could be addressed?

Shut down.

They don't want to know the *real* issues. They want a dog and pony show.

I'm just too gullible and too intersted in fixing actual issues that I always take the bait and then I am sorry.

So, here I am IRKED again with knowing that I opened my big fat mouth when I shouldn't and got myself right in the middle of corporate pollywagging.

:-(

coincidentally I'm irked right now!!

One of my co-workers just came over bragging that the boss called and told her not to answer the phone any more because everytime he calls she is the one that answers. She went on and on about it, tooting her own horn. That's so effing offensive. I work my tail off. My numbers show that. I've had that same conversation with him, you dont see me bragging about it! It's just one of those things he says if you answer more than once in a row. well zippity for her. she gets the blue ribbon for most phones answered in a single day. How will I ever live it down. Yup, I'm irked

I'm tired & cranky due to lack of sleep.
I got woken up at 12:30 am, after going to sleep at 11pm, by our neighbors having sex in their hot tub! My bedroom window was even closed! Ugh!

Then our dog, who sleeps in our bed, was restless & in & out of the covers from 3-6am when my alarm went off.

I really need a nap! Luckily, my 3 year old is behaving fairly well.

I got a call from my husband saying I was supposed to be at a charity drive that I voluteered for in 15 minutes. Problem....I never volunteered. I have a niece and nephew coming for the summer who will be here tomorrow. I have to move furniture, set up sleeping quarters, clean the house, catch up the laundry and a thousand other things and would never have volunteered. I would NEVER have volunteered. Now my husband wants me to apologize for not showing up to the thing I didn't volunteer to do!

Of course I can't because no one in this house can put the phone back on the hook and it's dead, so that's another thing to add to the "irk".

Irk...My friends are having a little gathering for my birthday and the friend who is the ring master is backing out saying because She has pink eye...She's been treating it for almost 24 hours. Unless we are sharing towels, clothing, pillows I am not concerned about "catching it"...so I see it as flimsy excuse...I personally think its because her boyfriend is off of work tonight and she wants to see him instead. The drama never ends with her. but alas I will be going out tonight and seeing other friends and I am happy about that...You see the glass is half full not empty :)

Oh yeah...I got an IRK today.
I wanted to order flowers for friend's mom.
I looked on-line and decided that I wanted a few African violets in a basket to be delivered to the funeral home.
NOT available in my local area thru either 800Flowers or FTD.
OK.
I called a local florist.
The tried to steer me to a peace lily urn, then a dish garden....or a basket of funeral flowers....
Ummmm.....no.....not what I said I wanted 5 seconds ago.
I had to ask directly: "Can you or can you not place several African Violets in a nice basket & deliver to XYZ Funeral Home?"
The response? "Let me check." (?????? really?????)
Then : "Yes we can do it."
THANK YOU!
Sheesh!

Oh yes. My husband just switched jobs and they told him that his direct deposit would go through on the 17th (yesterday). we also have an automatic withdrawl that comes out every month on the 17th, so that worked out well, but when I checked it the withdrawl had come out but the deposit didn't go through intill today! So we got charged a $34 fee for going overdrawn and a $15 fee for our bank telling us we were overdrawn (which is stupid since the letter they sent me won't get here till next week) that $50 is our gas money for the week. The bank won't refund us because they say they have refunded to many fees (not for us, but for other customers so I don't see how other customers should effect us) and the company that issues my husbands check is not going to refund us because they are not the ones who charged the fee. So we are out $49.

Does 4 hours of sleep count? Nah, I guess I'm not irked. It was a better reason that laying awake and not being able to sleep. (This time.) But what I'd give for 8 hours uninterrupted...

Hope your afternoon is irk-free!!!

YES! I HATE lateness. It is one of my absolute pet peeves. I. don't. do. late. If I am late for something, there is really a major problem. Some folks are late for everything and use the kids as an excuse.

Mine today is calling work meetings. There are times when I have to call a meeting and invite the right people. I check their Outlook calendar and choose a time that shows as "available". They accept the meeting invite. For this morning's meeting, I find out as I walk by a person's door that he is on VACATION. The other person calls me 10 minutes prior to the meeting to tell me he has another meeting. WELLLLLL, you didn't have another meeting when I scheduled this! Seriously, some level of common courtesy would be appreciated.
