Need some help.....

I have been noticing that our whites aren't as white as they used to be. I hate using bleach because it seems that they really don't get white it is more of a yellowish white. Any suggestions on what I can use to get those whites more white???? Thank You!!!!

I also use Oxy clean in all loads. I think it really helps to keep the clothes clean and whites whiter and colors bolder.

I use the soak cycle on my washer. I put all socks and underwear in hot water with Biz Laundry Booster. I may leave them soak overnight or during the day when I'm at work. I then run them on the prewash (no rinse). Then I will add the rest of any whites I have an wash on a normal cycle. It really works!

My mom uses lemon juice and baking soda to do her laundry -- I think the lemon juice is to get things whiter/brighter... (She's allergic to everything else.)

In addition to using regular detergent, I use Oxyclean (1/4-1/2 scoop) in every load. I also use a 1/4 cup of vinegar (white distilled) in the rinse cycle. The Oxyclean seems to boost the white factor and the vinegar gets out the soap residue that dulls clothing and it helps clothes last longer (it also gets out the uric acid that little kids leave behind). If I have a shirt that seems a little extra yellowish, I soak it in the sink with Oxyclean first, then wash.

Hope this helps :)

Good Mornning E.,

We have iron in our water. We do have a water softner and yet sometimes the whites are not as white as should be. I use IRON OUT made by SUMMIT BRANDS. PH:1-888-476-6688 or e-mail:

I put about half cup of powder in the washer of hot water and put in white clothes ( it will take the color out of colors ) and run them through a cycle. I sometimes let them soak for an hour or so. Your clothes will come out white. Hope this helps you. It sure does help me.

My mom just sent me an interesting email link about the wonders of peroxide. In the article, they talk about using a capful of peroxide with your whites, and it's supposed to really boost the white-factor. Peroxide is so cheap, like $1 a bottle, so it would be really cost efficient. I believe that's what oxy-clean has in it. I already deleted the article, but if you google peroxide + laundry, I bet you'll find some info. Take care!

Try a little Oxyclean in the wash machine, I think it works wonders. Also, try the bleach that doesn't hurt colors, but takes the stains out. I can't think of it right now, but I think it is either Purex or Hilex. Good luck.

Hi E.:
If the whites are synthic fabric, not all cotton, wool, silk, linen, they will turn yellow if you use bleach. First of all cut back on the amount of detergent you add to the washer. If all of the detergent does not rinse out it will act like an adheasive and the dirt will cling to the clothing. Run the washer with cold water and a cup or two of vineger place the clothes in the washer in the wash cycle, let it run. The vinegar will remove the left over detergent. Check to see if the grey is removed if so dry as normal. If not run with the vinegar again.
It is a good idea to use less derergent, usually about half of what is recommended.

Hey E.,

I have been using a detergent and brightner that you can't find in stores. It is really great! Very concentrated, lasts a long time and doesn't have any harsh chemicals in it. Message me if you would like more info.
