Moms I need help cleaning my sheets. I have two pairs of 1200 thread count, sateen sheets that are white (well they used to be). I switch the sheets out weekly and try to stay on top of keeping them white, but they are three years old now and the fitted sheets are looking a little ragged.
My husbands blue boxers left blue color stains on them, my daughter has over the years spilt things on them and now they look awful. The tag says so not bleach, but I need help.
I always wash them with Tide and some Oxy Clean but they are still a mess. Do any mom's have tips on how to make my sheets look new again. I am counting on your moms, you always have good advise.
You have to be careful with bleach...there are toxins/chemicals in it. You can try solumel and melapower...prespot works wonders...they work great and don't have the toxins/chemicals in them...Good luck!!
my mom used to boil in a big pot all white stuff in bleach water. she had a special pot for the dirty socks, underwear and sheets. it works.
Oxy Clean is a "peroxide" based cleaner. So it actually bleaches and can cause things to turn yellow and there is no reversing it. At this point, I would try to bleach them to see if it lightens up. If it doesn't, then you will know that the yellowing was caused by the Oxy Clean. That stuff is great on some things, but I've seen time after time my clients carpets have a yellow/orange stains from that stuff. There is no way to reverse it, we have to do a patch.
I always bleach my sheets. I just feel like they are cleaner. Mine are not 1200 count, more like 600 so I don't know if that would make a difference.

Bleach them bad boys. It won't hurt to bleach them once in a while. Just not often as it wears out the threads faster. Be sure to use Clorox, not off brand bleach.
I use Melapower with Melabright as whitener. Add a capful of Solumel to give it a boost to the enzymes cleaning power. I agree with also using Pre-spot- but I most back up the previous comment on the chemicals. As you use these other cleaning products and they don't work they way you want it to- I used to get frustrated and would use more of it thinking it needed more- but instead I was adding more chemicals to my household. The Melapower with the Solumel is effective but uses naturally derived enzymes. Email me if you need to know where to get it.

For brightening white fabric try Mrs. White's Bluing. Be careful... it can turn things blue. Just a capful in the washer tub with the water, before you add the sheets.
