My daughter has had her ears pierced for about 5 months and I want to change them. I know I want the twist back ones, but I'm not sure if I should get the metal twist ones or the ones with the silicon over the back. Which would be better for an almost 8 month old? Thanks...and PLEASE NO negative comments on piercing baby's ears....
Yes I'm getting her gold Ones

What can I do next?

By experience I will tell you that the silicon ones get lost easier and faster, look for the baby ones that you can (screw) secure better, my daughter has gone through so many pairs! Is awful.

I am no expert but unless your daughter has a gold allergy we were always told to stick with 14carat gold posts.

Actually stainless steel post are the better option as the are less porous and less likely to cause an infection.

As for what kind... I always find that for the first year or so leaving the first pai in is best. You will end up doing nothing but replacing them, even the baby ones with screwed on post. If you are super intent on changing them then go with ones geared towards a baby, smaller post, and screws on.

Screw on backs would be best for baby.

I just stuck with cute piercing earrings. I know they are hypoallergenic and won't fall out. Every other safety back... Including the two you mentioned we're still coming off and she was losing the earring. Sally beauty supply and an eBay store called lady di has great cute piercing earrings with 14 c gold for $10.

I was going to get screw backs for my daughter but I heard of so many cases where the kids were able to get them off. I bought my daughter tiny diamond cluster studs that had regular push backs. I went to piercing pagoda in the mall and bought stainless steel piercing backs that have a cover over the back and the see through`barrel backs. Both have worked out really well. I started out with the stainless backs but one fell off after 5 months. Then I replaced it with the barrel back. Now I have one in each ear. I check the stainless one now eve so often to make sure it is still clicked. I like the barrel because I can actually see if it is coming lose and it has not budged. Good luck.

There are screw on ones? I had to pierce my daughter's ears twice and the second time I just said, forget it, you'll pay for it when you are old enough.

I have tried the ring ones too so that there are no post poking her but my girls both pulled off their earrings out of annoyance. I do wish I knew there were screw on posts... the things you learn here.
