My 10 year old has thick ears and always wore the studs used to pierce her ears (after we removed the sharp tip). Now, she lost one, so I need to buy her more earrings.

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses! I went to Walmart and for $10, got her the earrings she requested! Husband filed them down and we are all happy!

I think a place that does the ear piercing can just sell you the kind you use for piercing. It has been many years since I last had my ears pierced but it was done at a jewelery store.

You can get the kits at Sally's. Just file the sharp part down.

My sister always had this problem. She found that you could find longer backs just about anywhere.. They vary a LOT. Look around, you'll get pretty good at flipping those little cards over and telling if they'll be long enough. For better quality earrings -- from a jewelry store -- they can make gold or silver posts in any length and, esp. for a kid put screw.backs on gold earrings. Screw backs take away most of the worry about losing earrings because the back literally screws on -- a big benefit for an active 10-year-old. They can do the screws on gold, surgical steel, or platinum posts... Sterling silver is too soft. Measure her current earring's stud in mm's and bring a small ruler or something else to measure it against when you go to stores.

Places where you get your ears pierced will have long post . they will also have different styles.

Also if you have a Hott topic near you , I know they have some pretty weird stuff they also have a lot of different styles (really cute girly ones)

My mom needs long posts and her ears are very sensitive. I had really good luck with the earrings, price and post by buying on ebay. They have a lot to chose from and some really great prices! My mom really liked the pair I bought and they were long enough for her to use! Good luck!

I know you can buy piercing studs at Walmart, but those are pretty pricey since most places do the "free piercing with purchase of earring" thing. since they sell the piercing gun at WalMart, they may have the earrings for a more affordable price.
what about hoops or drops? I wear little drops that hook in, with the clear back on them. Payless has some on thier website that are little Bees 0 too freakin cute.
