Which Shoes?

Hi ladies. Thank you for all of your help and support lately. You probably don't realize how much you are helping make it through.
Now I have a pretty lighthearted question (for a change!) I wear a brace on my right leg that runs from mid calf to mid thigh. I did six years of physical therapy to learn how to walk again a few times, and I have learned to keep limping to a minimum. The only problem is I can't seem to walk very well in dressier shoes. I would like to wear skirts and dresses sometimes, but the shoes I have don't look right with them and I don't know if there is a really comfortable nice shoe I could try. I can wear loafers and slides or flatter sandals (not pancake flat!) with most things I have, but they just aren't dressy enough for some things. I'm almost 6ft. tall so I don't need or want a super high heel. Just something feminine and pretty that I can walk in. Anybody have any suggestions or brands you love that I could try?
TIA

What can I do next?

I found the cutest pair of lower-heeled (?2 1/2") pumps. Basic black leather. They're Rockports....at 1st I was horrified about wearing a shoe my Gma would have chosen, but just fell in love with the classic styling & comfort of them. They work with jeans & dress clothes.

They have a padded insole, with an arch! I've worn them a couple of times now & just swear by them....

Naturalizers are super supportive and comfortable, not to mention cute!!! I used to think they were "old lady" shoes, but I was surprised at their cute shoes and again super comfortable. :)

What about "Mary Janes"
I often wear my pair with skirts when I need to be on my feet all day.

Have you seen the new styles of Crocs? I'm in LOVE with them! They're SOOO comfortable, and a lot of them have a slight heel and would still look nice with a skirt or dress. They also have a line called "YOU by Crocs", which I haven't tried yet, but they're a bit fancier...

Let us know what you find! :)

I just saw that Clark has a new line of "sassier" shoes that are still ultra comfortable. I can't remember the name of them but probably any good shoe store like Walking Co. or even department stores would have them. They look a bit dressier than the normal Clark but have more cushion and comfort which might work for you!

If I were you, I'd go online to Zappo's, follow the clicks to dress shoes with flat or low heels, see what you like, and read the customer comments! I'm not as tall as you are, but I don't wear high heels and I've found lovely (and comfortable) dressy shoes! I don't mean to make this into a commercial for Zappos, but their return policy is very friendly so there isn't much worry in ordering their shoes.

Hi Christi,
I have issues with one of my legs. I also went through rehab and physical/hydro therapy to learn to walk again. I have found that Merrell shoes are the absolute best for me. My legs don't ache when I wear them. I don't limp when I wear them. I love them. I also just bought a pair of Dansko shoes that I like. But, Merrell are my favorites. I wear skirts most of the time, and find that their shoes work well with skirts. I also have a pair of Ecco Mary Jane style shoes, which are okay, but not as great as the Merrell. HTH

Go to the Walking Company. They will have more comfortable, lower-heeled shoes and last year, they had cute sandals.

Naturallzers and Easy Spirit are my favorite. You might want to check out the stores that do "work" shoes - like for nurses and stuff. They may have some sort of dressy cross-over shoe that is comfortable but a little more formal for dressy wear. If you haven't already talked to your physical therapist, I'd ask them for suggestions as well.

I googled a bit and came across these - http://www.zappos.com/nurse-mates-faith-white?zlfid=111#p... - don't know if they're what you're looking for but the picture is kinda cute and they come in black.

Good luck!
