Whether or Not I Should Substitute Teach

I am in the southwest Arlington area and I am considering substitute teaching a few days a week. With subbing, you never know the days or when you are going to work. However, is this good for my 14 month old since this is so intermittent? Also, do you know of any home daycare or facitilities if I decide to this, that is on a drop in basis? I would prefer either the individual or facility to be a Christian atmosphere

What can I do next?

I subbed last year, and if you sub for Arlington and/or Mansfield, there are usually enough jobs to be working every day, unless you don't want to, of course. If you only want to work a few days a week, I would suggest picking a specific schedule like MWF, and using an in home child care provider. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.

Hi C.

I was a substitute in Irving for 3 years. I don't know about Arlington ISD but in Dallas and Irving you pick the days you want to work. I would go online everyday and pick a job. They also call you with the jobs available and if you don't want to work you don't have to. My pastor substituted in Arlington and I think he said he got to pick and choose the days he wanted to work. The only stipulation is that you have to work a certain amount of days per sememster or they drop you.

As far as the daycare sorry I don't know of any.
Have a great day.
S.

Hi C.,

I know what you mean. I've considered subbing as well but I like to plan my week or at least what I'm doing tomorrow. I don't want to get a call at 6am asking me to work at 7:45am. I used to work full-time when my kids were babies and, while they had a predictable schedule at a great daycare, I hated being away from them all the time. I finally left work and started a home-based business which I like so much better than any other job situation. I'm in complete control of my schedule and I do my work while doing my life.

I am currently building a team of 5 SAHM entrepeneurs whom I will personally assist in earning unlimited $$$ through the greatest business vehicle of the decade. If you'd like to know more, call me for a free, no obligation, personal overview ###-###-####). I'd love to tell you more about it and see if it might be a fit for you!

Blessings,

M.

I would not suggest this, I'm afraid! Little ones need as much continuity as possible until they reach 3. Maybe you could do some tutoring so that you could plan ahead.

I would suggest looking under the local review section under home childcare.

Our area has a drop-in day care facility called Kiddin' Around. You might see if your area has something similar. -- Make sure that you will be making enough $$ to make it worthwhile though, and consider that your baby will be in a less healthy environment than home. If you have to make copays to the doctor's office and pay for day care????
