Hello, ladies,
I am a SAHM to 5 and 7 years old kids. They are both in school and I have time now to work but I dont want a 9 to 5 job. I like being home when the kids are and I do quite a bit of volunteering at their school. Anyways, I have looked into many work at home "opportunities" and they either turn out to be scams or things I have to purchase and invest quite a bit of money into first. So I am really looking for some advise on some tried and true work at home options. My degree is in Psychotherapy, but right now I am willing to try other opportunities in order to contribute to the household finances and to create some future security for me and my children.
Thank you so much
Sapir

Mary Kay might be a good choice for you, the company is legit and a good co with a good product and good training.

I love being a Realtor, which gives me flexibility, but I would say it is not a part time job unless maybe you are on a team of realtors.

One of the previous posters said "some people love MLM" even though she didn't. My home based business is a MLM and I guess I am one of the people that love them. To me it is no different than the heirarchy at a company. The premise being, build a good team and promote. The important thing, however, is to never lose your emphasis on selling and believing in your product. The thing I like is that I have the most flexiblity of any job I could have. I pick my own hours, work when it is convenient to me, leave the house or don't leave the house sort of thing........ If I am volunteering at school or preschool I plan accordingly. My company is very legitimate with good products, good compensation program and it isn't a scam. There are different start-up options with the lowest being $45. If you are considering a home business, I'll be glad to give you more info. Good luck!

try seeing if the school you "volunteer" for, has any job openings.
Then you will still be on the same school/work schedule as your kids, maybe.

good luck,

You'll be hit with all kinds of "wonderful opportunities" for working at home on this post. I'm not into MLM's but some people love them

I have an only child and when she started school in 2000, I was at the school volunteering all the time. There was a shortage of substitute teachers and the principal asked me to apply. I am college degreed and fit the type for teacher.

It was perfect for me, I set my own hours, I was at the same school as my daughter, and I was involved with the school.

I still substitute on occasion for my "mental break" from working at home. My sub jobs are pre planned, I don't have the last minute calls, I only sub at the school where my daughter was a student, if I chose to, I would be at that school subbing 2-4 days a week. I can't do that and manage our business so I sub about once a week or so and more on days when they have the testing, etc.

You can also sub at Mother's Day out programs too!

Hi Sapir

I know exactly what you are talking about. My thinking was always why bother to have kids if you have to bring them to day care. If have been working from home for quite a while and really enjoy having that freedom of making my own schedule. I know there are a lot of scams out there and I am sure you just really want to find something that is going to work for you. From all my experiences in hospitality, interior design and the wellness care industry, I still enjoy giving excellent customer service. Even more, I love this journey called motherhood, what a great excuse to have an adventure at moments call… I guess I am a thrive-from-home mom. I be happy to share with you what I am doing... since we are both local we could even meet for coffee.

As the others mentioned you might check with the school.
I have been with a home-based company for 15 years. Here are a couple of 3 minute calls you can listen to: Roger Barnett, Chairman & CEO - ###-###-#### and Project MAHMA™ - ###-###-####. If they interest you, let me know and I will get you more information.
Good luck. I hope you find the right thing.

What about working at their school as a school counselor? Then you'd have pretty much the same hours as your children, and you'd still get summers off with them.

If you haven't found the right work from home yet, let me know. I found the perfect work from home job a couple of months ago. I am still working full-time, but hope to be working exclusively from home some day. It has been a life saver because I’m able to get some extra money by putting in a couple hours a week. You can work at your own pace and make your family’s schedule BEFORE your work schedule. Let me know if you are interested and we can talk more.
