Amanda Metz Photography IS absolutely fantastic! We just had photos taken and you'd have no idea my son was in a miserable mood. She's easy to work with, affordable and you do get the CD with all the photos taken.
Have FUN!

I am planning to get a series of professional photos of my son, myself, and my mother. My father is sadly no longer with us.
I am thinking that it would be best to have this done outside of my home, since my son (2 years of age) would be more subdued in a new environment. If he were in my home, he would just want to play.
Can anyone recommend a good portrait shop in the Portland, Oregon, area?
One that does not charge a fortune, and gives you a CD with all of the photos when the shoot is over? (You print whatever you want, whenever you want)?
Thanks.

You can view some of her work in the galleries section. She's super friendly and is great with kids and will do site locations for your shoot. (The Rose Garden is a great spot to do photos in Portland!)
I also see someone recommended Dan and Thersa Poush from Lake Oswego Photographers. They did our wedding and they also just did my son's K pictures last year at school.
We had good luck with Lake Oswego Photographers. The owners are Dan and Teresa Poush (I might be spelling that wrong). We have used them for my school for the kids' photos, and we used them for a big family portrait session too. For the family portrait they came to the house, but they do have a studio too; I've never been there though. We had them for an hour, paid $125 and got a CD a few days later. We printed what we wanted at Costco for really cheap. It all worked great for us! Good luck!
I have used Sara several times to meet my family at parks and take pictures and her fee's include a CD at the end. Probably not as fancy as the other links people have posted here but I have enjoyed having her take or photos over the years. http://www.hoodphotography.com/welcomemenu.html
You might try http://www.outsidemystudio.com/. Christina met us at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden for an hour. In that time, she got a range of great shots of our 3-year-old (and the rest of the family). We were delighted with the results and plan to have her out again next year.

Wow, you have a lot to choose from. Portland is beautiful!
www.jonathanmichael.com This is a friend of mine, Jonathan Marrs. He is an amazing photographer, and thinks outside the box. Very nice guy too. Check out his website, and all his info is on there.
I haven't used them myself, but I was told and have seen some pretty cool portraits done from Kiddie Kandids at Babies R Us. If you have a friend who is a decent photographer, you might try getting some photos done outside (Rose Garden, in a park, etc.) just for fun and see what comes out of them. Best of luck!
There are a lot of professional photographers out there these days. You might check around to see if you can find someone like that. I know here where I live there are several women who do the work out of their homes. They go on location and take the most beautiful portraits. They are inexpensive because they don't have all the overhead. I have used a photographer like this for years. Check out her website, she may actually be able to refer you to someone.
