Land's End? Catalog, online or at Sears. Yes, a bit pricier than WalMart but O. suit will last the entire summer....great quality! And conservative in design. Very classic.
My daughter is 4 but she's tall and wears a size 6 in most things. I've searched high and low for swimsuits. We prefer onepiece and prefer it to not make her look like a little prostitot. I cannot get over the swimwear they have available for little girls that would be skimpy for even most adult women.
Anyhow----the only cute suits I've found have been in the range of $40 and that's pricey for a suit that may not even last the summer. Walmart has ok ones for $12...but they're just not that cute.
Besides old navy, gymboree, childrens place, etc...where are the cute little girl suits?
I have tried most of the stores mentioned (online) but I'm thinking I'll have to just go to the mall. I was avoiding having to go there since it's a little bit of a trek for me. But it'll be better I'm sure...I was nervous about buying online because the size might not fit and then it becomes a hassle. So...we're off to the mall today. Hopefully we find something. Thanks!!!!

I hear ya on the styles. It's crazy what people will let their kids wear. Have you looked at Kohls? They usually have some good stuff and they always have great prices. Have you considered a tankini? It's a two piece, but the top is a tank top rather than a bikini top. They also make bottoms that look like shorts rather than a regular swimsuit bottom. Much more modest than even some of the one piece suits I've seen.
I have been getting my daughter "surf" wear such as "rash guards" which are actually swim shirts. They carry them at KMart, JC Penney and other places online. These actually cover more skin, prevent sunburnt shoulders, and they look really "cool". They are seen a lot on "Hannah Montana" so my daughter has deemed them acceptable.
I have always had very good luck with Target Circo brand suits, some are cute and some are ugly so you have to check in every once in a while and buy ahead when you see something good.
I love Target. Theirs are in the $10 range. That's where I buy all of my daughter's suits. They are really cute. We don't do bikinis either!
Land's End on-line. They have cute modest suits that are reasonably priced. I also got my daughter a more modest 2 piece (long waisted, 1 pieces look obscene on her) at Kohls for abotu $15.
Costco has $12.00 one piece girls Speedo swimsuits with cute designs.
I usually just go to shopko or target. My daughter wore a 6X last year and I got a couple of suits with princesses on them and ruffles around the waist. My daughter swims a lot so I usually buy one in May when the pools open and one in July when they go on sale.
I just bought a very cute swimsuit for my 4 year old daughter at Sears from Land's End. They had an extra 15% discount!
Target and Old Navy both had some cute 1 piece suits. We got one from Old Navy for our daughter a few weeks ago for $10. They were having a sale.
Children's Place usually has some cute 1 piece suits.
You may also try Sam's Club and Costco if you have memberships. I think they have a lot of children's Speedo's right now (very cute, I might add - though way too big for our kids) for about $14.99.
Good luck.
I got a cute speedo tankini at Costco and has held up better than the cheaper ones.
My six year old does the tankinis because she gets so hot in the one pieces.
just saw some cute ones in Garnet Hill catalog.www.garnethill.com
$25.00 - probably last better than the Walmart.
Look in the section that has UV protective clothing - not the swimsuit section (at Target for example these are in different places in the kids department). Your daughter will be both decent (tops are usually t-shirt like and bottoms are shorts) and you will have to mess less with sunscreen. I have seen with cute prints and flashy colors...
Good luck!
My SIL suggested Lily Pulitzer...I tried to get you a link online but my computer didn't cooperate.
Good luck! I know what you mean about wanting something cute AND age appropriate!
We just bought a new little girls suit at Target! They have tons of cute one-pieces and for only $15!
