I need to find a child's table and chairs, not too expensive. It has to be a square or rectangle for space saving in our kitchen. I tried 6 different stores yesterday, no such luck. We had to get rid of her high chair because it broke, she can't sit at the regular kitchen table, it's a bar stool set and the dining room set is too big for her, HELP!!!! Thanks!
My mom bought us a great toddler-sized litle card table with 2 chairs. But the chairs lock open, so when they inevitably get climbed on they don't collapse like a normal folding chair would. My mom said she got it at Aldi's, and knowing her it had to be less than $50.

We got a cheap red rectangular table from Ikea in Bolingbrook that was pretty cheap. The kids always sit at it for family gatherings/holidays, and my son does his crafts there too. I got a booster seat for my 12 month old (Fisher Price)that folds up, and the tray can be thrown in the dishwasher. Was pretty cheap and works out great.

Every Wednesday of the summer Warrenville that a Farmers Market behind the Park District. It's from 3-7 I think. There is an Amish both, and they had a very nice children's wooden table and chairs. It was rectangle.

I know you asked for a table and chair, but you mentioned that was the only option. There is a FANTASTIC booster out there. It's from Fisher-Price, it comes with two sets of straps one attaches around the seat of the chair, and one around the back of the chair...that thing is not moving! There is a strap on the booster for your kid also. The booster is adjustable for height, comes with a tray and cover. The best part is that the back of the booster folds down and you can travel anywhere with it, just plunk it over your shoulder.
It's just another option, for you daughter is not going to be able to fit at a table for a while, and it's not just your house, friends, family, restaurants.
good luck.

Are you set on getting a new one? If not, try Chicagofreecycle--it's a yahoo group and you can post stuff you want to give away and also make requests for things you want. Lots of people out there with perfectly good stuff that they want to give away. Other people are making posts constantly and there might even be what you're looking for already posted! All you do is respond to the post saying you want the item, make contact with the owner and go pick it up! Good luck.

I would abandon the idea of a new table and chairs and look for an over the chair sling or booster seat. They are priceless and some of them can be portable so you can bring it to other peoples homes and/or restaurants. I found one years ago in the Right Start catalog, but I would think that toys or babys r us would have them, too.

Try Ikea. Also napervilleyardsales.com has great stuff that people are selling themselves. I always see kids table and chair sets on there. Good Luck
Believe it or not, Ikea has a very adorable set of children's chairs and a table for not much money. Walgreen's has a pint-sized folding table and chairs that costs roughly the same. They aren't as cute, but they'll get the job done:^)

As I read your responses, some people must realize that not all stores carry these items. Since I too have been looking for a table and chair for my son. None of the above mentioned stores in my area carry them. My best bet would check babiesrus/toysrus.com or walmart.com (free site to store shipping). If your chairs have a back to them, I too recommend a booster seat. I have one with a tray and it travels nicely with my 11 mo, that's mainly what we use it for! Good luck

I have a table with two chairs that I purchased for my daughter when she was a toddler. It's wood, extremely steady. The top of the table and the chair seats are made of formica or some laminate, makeing it easy to clean/sanitize. The table and chairs are easy to clean. Our daughter is now 12 (13 in November) and we've never had a problem with it. I don't know where you live, but we're willing to pass it on to you. Over the years, people (family, friends, daycare) have expressed an interest and never came to get it.

My two-year old sits in a booster strapped to a kitchen chair. He's been in it since about 18 months when I got tired of tripping over the high chair. Simple and he then can eat with the rest of the family. Works for painting, coloring & play-doh too, and doesn't take any extra space. Do your bar stools have backs? The booster would work in them too.

My mom found one for my kids when they visit her (same situation) at Walgreens of all places. It's a blue table with 2 chairs in red and yellow. All fold away for easy storage. I don't see it on the website, but here's a link to another set for Disney Fairies, and I saw one for Dora the Explorer. Also, try Target, Walmart, Menards, Kmart, BigLots... I've seen them at all of these stores.
You may also consider temporarily replacing one of the bar stool chairs with a bar stool height chair with a back that you can put a booster seat on. They attach to the chair pretty securely on both front and back. Just a suggestion.

When we had one of those "in between" aged children, we used a booster seat that fastened to a regular chair. They can be found at any baby store and many department stores. This would work on your dining room chairs. I don't think my babies/toddlers would have wanted to sit at their own little chair in the kitchen with us at the higher table. We did use a small plastic table with chairs or a plastic picnic table for special times when friends were over and all the children sat together. Not real attractive but cheap and it washed up wonderfully!

IKEA is great you can even look online before you go and there is one right in Bolingbrook. Many of my friends, my sister-in-law, and myself bought children's table and chairs from there and they are still standing after many years. I know the prices start around $20 or so for two chairs and a table set depending on the style too.

My husband built my daughters out of wood and it has held up very well for us. I am sure he could build something for you if you are interested. IF you are looking for something less expensive, we have friends that just bought a very colorful plastic set from IKEA for their one year old twins and it seems to work well for them. The only problem they have is that it is light and the boys can push the furniture around on their hardwood floors.
