Hi Moms,

I am looking for a place to drop off my computer. Do you know of a place where I can bring it to get recycled. I live in Arlington Heights. The word processing works, but I can't get CD's to run on it. It's 10 years old, and I need to get it out of here, but I don't want to throw it the garbage and have it go in the landfill. I've heard that so many things are going in the landfills such as cell phones and computers that contain chemicals (lead?) and that's contaminating our earth. So I'm trying my best at being better at doing things in an earth friendly way.
Thanks so much for any suggestions that you might have.

So What Happened?

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I went to the recycling station that Karen mentioned. It was a one day event today. It turned out to be so close to my house. The volunteers were so friendly and helpful. I just pulled up and volunteers removed my printer, computer, and everything else. There were SO many computers in the parking lot. I asked a volunteer how many computers they collected so far and he said between 600 to 700! It's so nice to know that these computers won't be going into the landfills! I would recommend going this route to anyone who is not using their computer anymore.

Thanks again,

J.

Hi J.,
Have you ever heard of Freecycle? It's a yahoo group and their philosphy is to keep things out of the landfills by offering your unwanted goods to others. You post an offer and people will reply to you and you choose who gets it and they come and pick it up. You can also post wanted ads.
good luck
