I've been on bc pills around 7 months now i'm in a long term relationship (6yrs)and have a daughter from a previous marriage.Recently my b/f has been talking about wanting a baby now.I already stopped taking the pill which was my last in the pack.Anyone of you ladies know if I can get pregnant right away or will it take some time after stopping? Thanks so much.
Thank you all for the responses. He is NOT telling me to have a baby or else he'll leave me.We are happy being together and not rushing into marriage just to do so.This is something we talked about and I dont like that someone wants to tell me that I am doing the wrong thing by having a baby before marriage. We love each other. And know we do want to marry one day.The baby issue recently was talked about.Thank you ladies again for your kind and honest answers.

If you have been together that long and BF wants a child, why doesn't he marry you? Call me old fashioned, but you have a daughter to set an example for here, and the new baby deserves a committed mother AND father. I would hope that you would consider this.

My Dr told me to wait for 3mths before trying. I got preg a month later but it was in my tubes. So I waited 3mths and then it happened right away. I was on pills for 10 yrs.

Everyone is different, but for me, both times, it only took a month and a half. The first time I was taking the full hormone pill and the second time I was taking the mini pill. Good luck and have fun trying!

Hello! I'm 32 years old and stopped the pill in April. I didn't have a period until July. I am ovulating and my doctor says I should be able to conceive. Good luck to you, I know how frustrating it can be! :-)

Hi J., I don't know why anyone is giving you advise about getting married from this question. That is your own business and not what you were asking.
I got pregnant with my first and second child the next month after going off the pill, but everyone is different.
Just be patient after stopping the pill. It will happen when your body is ready.........Good Luck!!!

You can get pregnant before a period, but your body has to adjust to ovulating on its own. It can take 6-8 weeks for your body to 'adjust' to being off the pill (your period could take that long). After that, your body will begin to regulate.
You can get pregnant anytime off the pill, however.

I was on the pill for over 10 years and got pregnant while on the pill... while taking antibiotics... which of course breaks down the pills effectiveness... I was pretty shocked that I was even able to get pregnant after 10 years of birth control!!

I was on bc for about 16 years for mentration regulation when we decided to try to have our first child. I was told to have three regular periods without bc prior to attempting to get pregnant. Once the three months were up I was prengnant on our first attempt. I believe fait was on our side. Everyone one and every pregnancy is different. I too am a little old fashion and would recommend considering marriage prior to having another child. Good luck to you.

I was on the pill for ~5 years. I went off it and we were able to get pregnant with the first try. I took my basil body temperature leading up to trying so I would know when I was ovulating which helped us out with timing as well.

You should speak to your OB/GYN before considering getting pregnant since it depends on the the strength and type of "pill" hormone you were taking and when you will have healthy eggs. FOREMOST though, this is an unusual request from a BF don't you think? What is his motivation for a child without a permanent relationship connection? I agree with another perosn's repsonce that you do have another child to set an example for. What is the rush to get pregnant? Is this guy not going to stay with you if you don't have a baby? Please serioulsy consider all the perspectives and the outcomes before planning this life changing event.

For my first pregnancy, I was on the pill for 6 years and it took us 9 months to get pregnant. For the second, I was on the pill about 18 months and it took 2 months to get pregnant. Every one is different- there is not an exact science to it. Good luck!

It all depends on your body. Some people can get pregnant the first month and others take much longer. I took 17 months and a girlfriend of mine was pregnant her first! Good luck!

Doctors say it takes about 30 days for the drugs to completely leave your system so you might want to use condoms until then ... just so that if you were to get pg, the hormones wouldn't be there to mess anything up.

My mom was in her mid 30's when she got pregnant with me one month after being off the pill. Of course that was a long time ago, but since they say just missing one day can cause a pregnancy I would say easily right away.

You can get pregnant right away. However, you SHOULD WAIT at least 3 mos to get all of the hormones out of your system.

I also got pregnant pretty fast after being on birth control for about 10+ years -- I stopped taking the pill in January, got pregnant in April. It has taken some of my friends much longer, though.
