Congratulations on nursing your daughter for so long! I wasn't on birth control pills, but it usually took me 6 months for my periods to regulate (I have 4 children). I'm sure it's different for every 'body'. All the best!
I weaned my 18 month old daughter about 2 1/2 months ago and got my first period around then, actually about a week before I was completely done nursing her. At that time, I went back on birth control and have not had a period since- so I have missed 2 periods so far. I took a preganancy test a few weeks ago, which came back negative. Any experiences like this? When should I expect to go back to a regular monthly cycle, or at least get another period?

It could be the pill you are taking. I was put on Yaz and haven't had a period or spotting of any kind in almost two years. Call your doctor and find out if skipping your period is a side effect of the pill you are on.
It took me about a year to get a 'normal' period even while on birth control. Just make sure you ask you OB the same questions.
I think every woman is different, obviously, but I would imagine that the BC has something to do w/ your missed periods. Maybe in the coming months your body will jump back into the swing of things once it gets used the pill. My son is 18 months too and we are looking to wean soon (he is showing no signs of stopping at this point, however - hoping he is ready soon!). I still haven't had a period yet but I hope it starts back up shortly thereafter since we are TTC#2 soon! Good luck to you...
One question-- how can you expect your body to become regular all by itself if you're taking the Pill? If you really want to get back to a regular cycle naturally, use condoms for a few months as your body does this. The Pill is probably blocking any attempt your body makes at regulating itself and you simply won't have a "natural" period as long as you're taking it. As for me, I had a period 3 months after weaning my 20-month-old daughter and it was regular ever since-- then I got pregnant again ten months after weaning.
