For example right before Christmas it was warm like in the high 70's the Christmas eve it was cold well now my kids have had a clear runny nose and cough since Christmas eve... do I take them to the doctor since this is like the 3
0r 4 time this has happened or just let it run its course .... Tia

I agree that it sounds like allergies. My husband, daughter, and I get the same thing. Try Zyrtec or Claritin

You didn't say what their ages are but if they are 6 or older, give them children's claritan. If they are younger, check with the doctor first but it really sounds allergy related. Both my kids (ages 4 and 19) and myself have the same symptoms. I am the only one w/ diagnosed allergies (mine are more severe).

As long as no fever or breathing problems let is run its course normally 7-10 days however, if there are addtional symptoms or fevers off and on that don't seem to go away then go to the doctor.

We spend all winter with a runny nose + cough. It's annoying, but there's nothing we can do for a virus and we're more likely to catch something at the doctor's office than at our house :) Let it run its course unless you have another reason to take them - fever, not eating well, etc.

cut out sugar and milk, two of the biggest mucus producing offenders, and have them take a good probiotic

Not a virus. Sounds like allergies.
Cool mist humidifier in the bedrooms helps, so does over the counter anti histamines.

If this continues every yr. or gets worse, see an allergist.
Allergy shots can help de-sensitize and make some seasons much more bearable.

You could let it run it's course or you could get over the counter Zyrtec and give it to them during any change of weather or just during the winter months. Worked wonders for my son when he was little.

let it run its course I am in houston and my son is doing the same thing andso am I. unless they have a fever let it run its course and part of this is going around. a girl at work has the same thing. I only took my son to doc because of an ear infection. I have just been using a cough syrup on him and his antibiotic.
