When to Put My Daughter in Her Crib

I am a SAHM of a 3 month old beautiful daughter that is now sleeping all night! She?ll fall asleep about midnight and get up around 7 for a bottle. I still have her in a bassinette next to the bed. When should I start putting her in her crib for the night? And do I lay her down while she is awake or get her to fall asleep first?
We have a night time routine of 11:00 p.m. a bottle, a story, and then we snuggle on the couch until she falls asleep (usually about midnight).

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Last night (Saturday), I put my daughter to sleep in her crib for the first time. She needed some help getting to sleep but once she was asleep, she sleep the entire night.
Thanks for the responses.

I would say ummmm NOW....she should be rolling over with in the next month or so and the sooner the better......

as for the snuggle time...as much as you love it break that habit NOW too.....she needs to get used to falling asleep on her own in her bed and not in your arms...

I have three boys and the only one I didnt follow my advice for was my last one ...man o man he just turned three and to get him to fall asleep on his own and in his own bed was a nightmare...he STILL wakes up at night looking for me (he shares his room with his 5 yr old brother)
so learn from my nightmare???
Break the habit now.....snuggle time is ok but put her down still awake...groggy but "aware" that she is in her bed and falling asleep on her own....

Lola,
If you feel uneasy about having your baby sleep in her crib you may want to consider a baby video monitor. This will allow you to SEE that she is fine while in her own room. They start at about $99 at Babies R Us. I transitioned both of my kids to their crib between 3-4 months. The video monitor may seem over the top for some, but it gave my husband and I peace of mind. Good luck.

Both of my girls went right into their cribs from day one. Also let her learn to put herself asleep. Trust me if you teach her good sleep habits now you too will soon be sleeping through the night yourself. I have alot of friends who have done the co-sleeping or always rocking their kids to sleep and they had hell to pay later when they wanted their sleep life back.

I think the sooner the better for her to be in her crib, I was lucky my son who is now 18 months old never went in the bassinet. WE tried it but he liked his crib and still does. I think it will be harder for you if you wait much longer, they usually catch on pretty fast that you are in your bed not too far away and that's where the really bad habit starts of having them sleep in your bed. My son has never slept in our bed and we love that we have our own space. He also loves playing in his room, I think it helps them take ownership of it if they start sleeping in it early.
GOod Luck, Hope this helps!! K.
