My periods can be pretty irregular. I always get one every month but sometimes 6 weeks pass by before I get it. I'm wondering if I'm pregnant and if I had a normal period, I would be due to get one tomorrow. I really want to take a pregnancy test but don't' want to get a false negative.. what to do?? :(

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am actively trying but I have pretty bad anxiety and without my meds, I've kind of been a basket case. I want to know b/c I don't want to be suffering through this for no reason lol. Sooner I get pregnant, the sooner I can have the baby and the sooner I can take my meds!! Not ideal, I know, but unfortunately necessary T.T

I bought a boatload of tests at the dollar tree and just tested every day until my period started or it was positive.

aaahhh...I know that feeling...or at least I did...until I had a hysterectomy!! LOL

I waited until I hadn't had a period for at least 8 weeks. Then I would test. If you are that concerned? Go to your doctor for a blood test.

Are you actively TRYING to get pregnant?

Go to the dollar store - they're a dollar and no less effective. And then just test now, again in two weeks, again after that if you still haven't had a period. I wouldn't wait if there are any risky behaviors that may be part of your routine.

Wait. Time is your friend. test at 7 weeks since your last period, that way, it will be 1 week after you expected to have one on the outside margin.

If money were your concern, I'd sy get the dollar store tests, but that doesn't seem to be your issue. You can't face a false negative, then, all you can do is wait.

Best,

I would wait until the 2 month mark if you sometimes go 6 weeks--especially if negative would be upsetting. Unless you feel different than usual. I was also irregular--sometimes going months without it. I took a test when I was just feeling off. The first time I was so incredibly tired but chocked it up to stress. Ha, first surprise baby (should not have been able to get pregnant without help). I was already 10 weeks though when I took the test.

For the second, I did not feel anything. I was a little irregular and took a test--negative result (which is why I would wait until 2 months). Then when I found out positive, almost 11 weeks pregnant.

While I understand that desire to KNOW, what does knowing actually do for you? Would you change what you are doing? Probably not. If you are trying to become pregnant, you should already be taking a prenatal vitamin and living as healthy as you can. So - just wait. If 6 weeks is the longest you ever go in between, then wait 7 weeks then test.

There really is no reason to know for sure this early on. Your doctor won't even see you until at least 8 weeks even if you test positive now. So, just breathe deeply and try to have patience for a little while longer :)

If you pay attention to your body you should be able to tell when you are ovulating. Although the length of your cycle can variate greatly, I believe woman will get their period 14 days after ovulation. Therefore, add 14 days to the last day you are fertile (ovulate) and that will tell you when you are expected to get your period.

During ovulation, the mucus secretions will be much greater. (Google it so you can learn to read your body.). Once you figure out when you ovulated then you will get your period 14 days later unless of course you are pregnant. Knowing when you ovulated though will tell you the future date you should have your period.

I know everyone says to wait...but I am the least patient person on the planet and when I was TTC, I started testing about 9 days past ovulation. Are you actively trying, then do you know when you ovulated? If you know that, any time after 14 days is safe.....

Since you don't want a false negative....you should wait a few more weeks. But to me that would be impossible to do ;)

Ditto Veruca Salt. I have done that. And at least one time that I thought maybe it was too early for the urine test, I got a blood test done. Not pregnant. Yea me!
