my son is in the middle of a growth spurt.. He is 10 months - first he was waking up to eat several times a night.. Then he started getting chubbier.. Now he is sleeping a lot. So I bet he is going to lose the chub and grow taller soon..

Do your kids do this too?? is there any pattern with the sleeping and eating -- do they get chubbier and then talller?/

What can I do next?

Yes, my son too! My 2-1/2 year old son had a big growth spurt this past winter. In fact, since Fall, he's put on 6 lbs. and grown 1-1/2 inches. He still takes a nap during the day--usually 3-4 hours long and his appetite has increased. He's a little chubby in the tummy, but that's typical with most kids this age (some people call it baby fat). My son doesn't get up during the night, but when he gets up in the morning, boy, is he hungry!

I've heard (maybe it's an old wives tale) that it's common for kids to grow more during the winter than in the warmer months too. I don't know if that's true in most cases, but with both my kids, they grew more in the winter.

That is exactly the pattern I noticed in both my kids. It became a source of amusement after a while. I could always tell when they were going to get out of bed taller again. And when they were going to be the same height for a while.

I heard some where that there is some kind of a growth spurt about every 6 weeks or so. Maybe little maybe big... I think that kids biggest growth spurts come the week AFTER you buy them clothes. lol
All joking aside yes, the pick up in appitite, sleeping more, and even a bit of fussiness is all signs of growth spurt impending. It seems like when you start thinking, he's getting a bit of chub here, the next week you look at them and their longer and thinner... BUT still pay attention to WHAT and HOW MUCH your child is eating... If the baby eats more than YOU do on a consistant basis there may be issues...

My daughter eats and eats and eats... then grows, grazes, then eats and eats and eats..... grows and then grazes. She is 3 1/2 so now I can always tell she is about to grow.... when she has two breakfasts!

It is very weird how kids grow. my daughter who is now 15 did this a lot. Then for years she stayed chubby. Throughout the years people would tell me differnt steps when she would lose her "baby fat". I am 5'2" and she was at least a foot shorter then me and was 2 sizes bigger then me. She turned 11 and started to loose weight really fast! We watched her eating habits, had her checked out at the doctors, and still nothing. In 1 month she lost 25 lbs. Well she started puberty (oh what fun) she shot up and is now 5'5" and is a size 1. Don't worry unless it gets real bad, just enjoy them and watch them grow!
