I usually do themes - disney movies or outside fun - sidewalk chalk and bubbles, crafts - color books, markets, water colors. I think last year Idid tball for my 4 yr old boy and princess for my 3 yr old girl. I put a gift card for a massage in both my 17 yr old daughters and 17 yr old stepsons. Now everyone is a year older. The kids will be pretty simple, but I still want to hear ideas. But what to do for the big kids? Sometimes I buy my daughter makeup and hair hooties, costume jewelry. My step son I have no idea. A gift card to Chilis maybe? Do yall still do baskets for your big kids? I just like to force them to come to my house on Easter! Ahhh motherly passive agressiveness! Just kidding. I really do it to remind them they are still my babies and I will always be thier mom and I just like to make them feel loved and not pushed aside for the little ones. so 2 part question. DO you still make a basket for your big kids and what do you put in your Easter Baskets?

What can I do next?

Well for my 2 year old I just get whatever. This year we are getting her a Mr. Potato Head and a bunch fo little things (bracelets, sidewalk chalk, plastic bat, recorder, candy, etc). I am planning on making one for my 6 year old niece i'm getting her fingernail polish, fingernail decal/sticker things) a special pair of earrings (its the one year mark of when she got them done) and some candy.
When we were growing up my mom did baskets forever! When we got to the point of over 18, she just got us an easter card and a gift certificate in it (chili's music stores, movie tickets, gas card, grocery card, bed, bath and beyond, walmart, target, etc). I always thought it was kind of cool to still get a gift. =)

I am 30 and my parents and inlaws still make baskets for my husband and I!
I remember getting cash in plastic eggs instead of candy as a teenager but since reaching adulthood my folks just stick with my favorite easter candy..those Cadbury bunny eggs...oh I am so looking foward to them!

Why not? It's a show of love and affection. Who doesn't love that? I only have littles, but you bet when they are older they will still get something.

Gas cards? Movie tickets?

Make them do an egg hunt to get their prizes. They will love it even if they say they don't. :)

Have fun! That's what it is all about.

I make baskets for all 6 kids - I have ages 10 - 22 yrs old. In the four younger kids baskets, I put things that aren't really candy, but are "treats" and I don't mind that they eat it for breakfast. Things like fruit snacks, rice crispy bars, box of raisins, granola bar, etc. I don't hide the baskets (2 of my littles are special needs and it creates havoc if I do), they are in their breakfast spots when they come down. They get to eat everything in the basket for breakfast and then we leave for gramma's house. That way, I don't have a bunch of candy floating around, and they aren't so hopped up on sugar they can't sit in the car for the ride. For my older two, I do more of a traditional basket with candy and easter grass and mail it to them. However, they have to return the basket because we use the same ones every year :)

I still do easter baskets and my kids are 29, 22,21 and 16. the oldest has a family of her own now. so she and my son inlaw share a basket, the boys all get their own baskets as do the grandkids. we have an easter egg hunt at our house. the way it works is the kids each hide eggs. the youngest is 7 he doesn't get to hide any lol. but the 8yr old hides them for the 7 yr old, the 10 yr hides them for the 8 yr old. it gets to be fun when the 29 yr old is hiding them for the 22 yr old. each hides a dozen there is just jelly beans etc in them except for the one "special jeweled egg" they each have one that is a different color. in it will be money. usually a $50 but if we are broke it will be a $20. the kids have been careful over the past 15 years to not loose these jeweled eggs lol as they get rehid each year.

I'm almost 30 and my mom still puts a basket together for me (jointly, for me & hubby now)--she does a book by my favorite author, a movie that I commented on wanting, gift cards to our favorite restaurant, etc. Our favorite (most used) gift that she's given us the past 2 years has been a family pass to our city zoo!

Last year my girl was 1 1/2 and the first Easter that she was big enough to "appreciate" so we did a BIG basket--we bought a nice covered wagon and put spring clothes, coloring books, kite, bubbles, chalk, etc in it! She loved it!! We also hid eggs around the house with candies and money (aka "piggie food").

My kids are 3 and 5. I usually put a little bit of candy in their baskets but most of their baskets are filled with the stuff that their into around Easter. I also do baskets for my younger brother (15) and sister (13). I put candy in their baskets but mostly put like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deoderant, sponge things to wash with, stuff like that. Their mom (which is not my mom) doesnt do their baskets and my dad doesnt have the money to so I help. I also try to get them a gift card for some where for clothes or just take them shopping. I think its a great idea to do it for the older kids. I'm 26 and my mom still does one for me and my boyfriend! I think for your kids a gas card or movie passes or something like that would be a great idea!

My hubby and I are both 36 and we have two children. His mother still makes a basket for us. :) I am pretty sure it's a bribe to get us to come over, but it's really cute when she brings out three Easter Baskets for the family. She usually puts some chocolates and magazines in it for us. You are never too old to get spoiled a little by your mama! :)

My children are much younger (2 and 5), but this idea may work. Our kids are getting along with the candy and a few trinkets and Camelbak backpack...the kind you fill with water and the kids use it to rehydrate. We found a child version and my son and hubby kayak together often so they will use it a lot. We also do many outdoor activities like camping, so we will use it then. If your kids are into sports (biking, hiking, fishing) it may be an idea.

I do Easter baskets until my kids marry. Now, we're down to one 20-something and 2 teens. This year my youngest will get fish for her aquarium. I think my 18 yo will get some good quality moisturizer and maybe some Girl Scout cookies (she gave them up for Lent and they're a favorite!). My 28 yo will get a gift card.

I think movie passes are a great idea for your teens, as are gas cards or a DVD or book.
