I have priced this way:

Nike Shoes $10
Sketchers brown loafers $10
Rawling spikes $5.00

Jeans $5.00 (all name brand and are still being sold in the stores, Old Navy, Gap, Gymboree, Children's Place and Levi's)

10 Pair of socks (they all have designs on them) $5.00? (haven't priced these yet, but have to do so in the next 30 min.

Is this reasonable?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The shoes have only been wore maybe 15 times before they were out grown.

The pants are toddlers through a size 6.

I know for me, I might pay $5 for jeans, but I would not pay $10 for used shoes, and would not buy used socks at all, but other people mights, so go for it and just be open to offers.

I just saw the update. I would pay $5 for woman's jeans, but not kids. I would not pay more than $2, maybe $3 for used kids jeans, and no more than $2 or $3 for the shoes either. If this is all kids stuff I would say the prices are way too high.

What ages are they?

baby

older kid
teen
adult?

the socks seem very overpriced - I'd pay a quarter/pair for used socks

Too much for the socks. Maybe $2.00 for 10 pair.
Shoes seem a tad high to me.
I just consigned kids size 2 soccer shoes for 2.50.

I'm selling kids Clarks and Merrill shoes (worn once or twice) for 10-15/pair.

Without seeing them, it's hard to say. For socks, unless they were brand new, I wouldn't pay more than a dollar each for them, but 10 for $5 I might do. The shoes would also depend on the quality. I love Sketchers and know they wear for a long time so if they were in good shape I might spend $10 on them.

I guess part of the issue for me is "consignment". What is the overall vibe of the sale. Is it more like a yard sale or a store that only carries certain items (like Ann Taylor dresses)? That would also determine price. If it's more thrift store/yard sale, lower is better. I'd pay more for Gymboree than Old Navy because I know they are pricier but good quality.

I usually mark things 75% off retail price unless they are brand new or in perfect condition and then I do about 50- 60% off That's still better than I would make at a garage sale. I tend to go lower because I want to sell everything and I usually do.

Interesting that you should ask, as I'm attending a resale event on Friday, and just asked about it and was wondering about how things would be priced...

For me to buy used shoes for $10 a pair, they'd have to be like new. If there is much wear at all, I doubt I'd pay more than $5 a pair if they are name brands like Nike, Sketchers, etc. For jeans, name brands that are in excellent condition (i.e. no visable signs of wear), I might pay $5 for larger sizes... for baby or toddler sizes, maybe not quite that much, maybe $3 a pair? 10 pairs of used socks for $5, I doubt it. Maybe $2.50?

I'm just being honest. I haven't done much consignment shopping in the past, so I really don't know what to expect with regard to how things are priced, and I might be shocked... I guess I'll see on Friday!

Good luck selling your goods!

Our local consignment stores sell the shoes for about $3.50 per pair. They sell the jeans and stuff for about $3-5 each pair. They have to be like new though, no stains, no tears, no threadbare areas....The most expensive things in the store are the formals and most of them are between $8 and $12.

As an added thought:

Soap works, if not the fork that you eat with would still have every persons germs on it each time you use it. Even underwear is clean if it has been washed.

Hey you!!!

Jeans - yes. Right on!!!

Socks? Nope..sorry - I'm a freak I guess and don't buy used socks. I just bought brand news ones the other day, Dockers, 4 pairs, $6.50...

Shoes? They have to be like new for me to spend $10 on a used pair...I know, I know, I know, I'm picky!!! :)

The jeans though? honey if they were the right size for my boys - i'd buy all of them at $5 a pop!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!
