Hi Mamas!

I'm looking for mom's who have delivered at Centennial Hospital in Frisco and hearing about your experiences (good and bad). I delievered my first baby at Medical Center of Plano and had a fabulous experience. All of the nurses were wonderful. I was there for a week on bed rest before I delivered and then stayed 4 days after delivering via
c-section due to complications. My son was 14wks premature and the NICU was amazing when it came to taking care of their preemies. My son is now 10 months old and is one healthy, strong little man. You would never know he was a preemie. With having that said, I'm very comfortable with Medical Center of Plano and I feel that their staff are both professional and caring.

So why on earth would I ask about Centennial Hospital? I'm pregnant with #2 and my OB has moved her office to Centennial. I don't know anything about this hospital and was hoping to get some feedback from some mom's who have personal experiences with delivering here.

My son just turned 1 and he was a preemie at Centennial. He spent a week in the NICU and they were wonderful. He's my first, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I was pleased - no problems at all.

I just delivered at Centennial four months ago, and my experience was fantastic. I delivered my first baby at Richardson Regional Medical Center. I had a great experience there as well, but my OBGYN transferred up to Centennial, thus the reason for delivering there.
I was hesitant at first about going there because I had heard a few bad things about it. I had heard that their NICU was not very good too. But, after delivering there, I can't say enough good things. The staff there was exceptional. Everyone was so extremely nice and caring. I was really out-of-it after my delivery, due to a lot of fatigue and medication. The nurses made me feel so comfortable and not embarrassed about anything. We all know that after you have a baby, you are definitely not in your best light. :o)
Since I delivered in the wee hours of the morning, the dinner that evening was very nice. My husband and I were able to order from a menu. He chose steak and I had salmon. It also came with a really yummy dessert. Now, this is hospital steak and salmon, but it was still pretty tasty. They brought it in on a white tablecloth covered table with flowers. It was a nice surprise. We got to have a special lunch the day we checked out also.
The only possible negatives are that the sleeping area for your spouse is definitely not the most comfortable in the world. It is a recliner. However, my husband did say that it was more comfortable than the "break-your-back" sofa at Richardson Regional. And, the rooms are pretty small. The delivery room is nice and big, but once you are transfered to the other room, it is kind of close quarters.
Other than that, I highly recommend Centennial.

Terrible horrible aweful hospital. Do not go there!!! I did not deliver there, however I had 2 friends deliver there. Both were terrible experiences.
They have a very small OB section of the hospital. If you are 20 weeks pregnant or less, and come to the hospital with complications, they keep you in the ER rather than sending you to the OB ward.
I have never heard of such a thing. When I was about 16 weeks pregnant, I had a gall bladder attack. I went to my OB immediatly. She did a sonogram and ruled out anything to do with the baby....she sent me to the hospital ER. Eventhough, she called ahead to tell them about my case, they still sent me to the OB ward to be checked out by the attending OB before they would even touch me in the ER. Also, when I was in college, my roomate found out she was pregnant, two days later she starting having cramping. I took her to the area hospital ER. As soon as she said the word "pregnant" she was wisked away to the OB ward. She had a miscarriage, but it was all handled by the OB ward not the ER.....all of this to say....that is an important thing to know about the hospital that you are going to be having your baby at. Especially, with complications on your first child, you want to make sure that you are at a hospital that has their stuff together.

I have not heard much about Centennial. Since your first son was premature, I would recomend that you make sure any hospital you use has a Level III NICU. Just in case you have complications with this pregnancy as well. I know Plano's NICU is wonderful. Good Luck.

I didn't deliver there. I delivered my twins at Presby Plano. Since you had a premature baby you might want to be sure that the hospital you select has a level III NICU. I thought Presby's was wonderful.
Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.

I delivered my son there 8 months ago. I had a scheduled c-section. The whole experience was neither here nor there. It went smoothly and we had no problems. The stay was good as well. I was there a total of 3 days. All of my nurses were very friendly, the doctors were friendly and the facility were nice, clean & new (which I liked). The only thing my doctor cautioned me on was that if the baby had any "major" complications, it is not suited for a (I think) Stage 1 NICU. It does have a Stage 2 NICU. Since I was full-term, my doctor said that if complications were to arise, the baby would go to the Stage 2 anyways. (I believe Stage 1 is for premature babies- I could be wrong.) The nursery staff were very caring and helpful as well. All in all, I would choose to have another delivery there in a heart beat. Good luck!

I have never delivered at Centennial, but I do work there on occasssion. The experience for you may be fine, but if complications arise for the baby, their NICU is little to be desired. Do your baby a favor and have your baby at Medical Center Plano. Message me if you have further questions.

Hello,

I delivered my son via c-section at Centennial in 2005. The nurses/staff were extremely friendly and very professional. The hospital was open less than a year at the time, but everything went very smoothly. It was my first c-section, so I was nervous, but everything went great. My son wouldn't eat and his breathing was shallow, so they had him in the ICU our whole stay. They were very attentive in the ICU and really had a good system down. I was able to go see my son whenever I wanted.. feed him, bathe him, etc. The food there wasn't bad either.. I wouldn't say it was wonderful, but much better than a lot I have had. They bring a menu to choose from, and your husband can order off of it as well.

The only drawback to the hospital was that the recovery rooms were really small (at least the one I was in) and there was only a recliner for my husband to sleep in. I delivered my first baby at Plano Presby and there was a pullout couch there. I ended up telling my husband to go home the 2nd night so he could get some good sleep before we all came home to no sleep at all...:)

Good luck!!
