What to Pay Teen Sitter

We have a very dependible teen age babysitter, who lives right across the street so her parents are always available too, just in case. We have 2 little ones (age 2 and 6). We pay her depending on the age of the child and whether she is watching 1 or both. For the 2 year old alone we pay her $7 per hour as he is far more intensive to watch than the 6 year old. When she watches the 2 we pay $10 per hour. At the end of the day, I say whatever you feel is "fair" and will help you to keep a good, responsible sitter, providing you with peace of mind when your away is all that matters.

We give our teen babysitter about $6 an hour. I have no idea if this is fair market value, generous, or cheap.

Both of my kids babysit, it depends on how much someone can afford. But they typically charge $5 for 1 child and $7-8 for 2 kids. As a parent I would ask your babysitter what they charge and if it's not what you were thinking ask them if they'd be willing to do it for X$...
