Honestly, just get $5 gift cards. Teachers get enough mugs and little things. While we appreciate every gift we are given, instead of spending $5 on the cocoa set, do Target or Starbucks gift cards.
My dd has 4 preschool teachers that I would like to get gifts for. The reason there are 4 teachers is bc its a preschool/daycare. DD does not do the daycare part just a.m. preschool 3 days a week. I found some really cute mug sets at the store hot coco/tea sets. They are $5 a pc. Is that a lame gift? We dont have a lot of money to spend but I wanted to get something for them. I thought about baking but after all was said and done I would be spending more on ingrediants. Thanks for any input.

mugs with hot cocoa mix isn't bad - but I'm sure they have lots of mugs - I do and I was only a Sunday School teacher. I got lots of things from my sunday school kids over the years and I have to say the Christmas themed candy dishes & mugs are way overdone - I have given away most of them to the Salvation Army store.
Best gifts I've gotten - gifts cards (Dunkin Donuts, Movie theater, blockbuster, favorite coffee shop or bakery) homemade goodies (cookies, candy, fudge), pretty note cards, memo pad with matching pencil... They were all useful things that if I didn't use my family did.
I am a preschool aide for 3 and 4-year olds. One particular year, my 3 yo teacher and I received gifts from almost every family. We were overwhelmed that they all thought so much of us. I will tell you though it is not necessary to purchase anything for the teachers. We are perfectly fine with just a card or a picture of your child. If you feel the need to buy something little, the suggestions are great. You do not need to spend a lot of money to show your appreciation. My favorite gift so far has been a signed card - the student just learned to write his name and I was so proud that he signed his own card. Another great idea is to gift something to the class instead of the teachers. A new book or a favorite toy of your child's (we receive a small wooden train set one year). The child will be rememebered for years for their contribution to the class.
Bath and body works has anti-bac hand soap, usually 4 $15 or 6 for $20. They also have matching pocket bac, or anti bac saniti\zers. If you goole for a coupon or sign up for email, you can receive a $10 coupon off a 30$ purchase. They even have little cello bags with ribbon for free.
My one SIL is a teacher and I so when I picked up my own kids teachers gifts I bounced the idea on her and she said she LOVED it; I got each of the kids teachers a nice bamboo cutting board.
I went to Marshells/TJ Maxx and found the cutting board sets and they were wrapped in a nice twill bow - it looks super nice.
She said of course she is grateful for everything she receives, but she truly appreciates things that she can actually use.
A mug and hot chocolate is a great gift! They also love gift cards!! Even if it's $5 they don't mind, just glad to be appreciated. My MIL was a preschool teacher for 30+ years and have heard all the stories about the best and worst gifts. The worst are apple items and decorative kinds of things. Can you imagine getting all those decorative things every year for all those years?! Ha ha :) Getting something the teacher can use is a great idea!
I was an assistant teacher for many years and one time there was a mom that made up a very nice little gift bag with a couple votives and threw in a couple pieces of chocolate candy and I loved it!! I knew she couldn't afford much and I certainly didn't expect anything but she had gotten to know me and spent a couple bucks on my two favorite things and I absolutely loved the thot that went behind it.
You don't need to spend much - trust me, I understand that - it really is the thot that counts!!
Hey lady!
Why not go to snapfish and order something personal like a notebook or stationary? They have half off everything right now until tomorrow with coupon code CYBER50. They have some super cute notebooks that you can put a picture on or personalize with a name. A preschool teacher does a lot of writing of notes.... or she can use it at home for something.
I'm doing baking...already bought the containers (2 for $1 at the dollar store) and the supplies. Also going to make them for the young staff at the Boys and Girls Club I work with- so I can stretch my stuff pretty far for quite a few gifts.
I either get gift certificates for dinner or make them something for dinner. I figure they go home pretty tired at the end of the day and having someone take care of dinner for me would be FABULOUS!
I buy those glad ware containers and make a soup or a casserole and take it in at pick-up time, so they can take it home and eat. If it's something that is a really big hit (a 'famous' recipe) I will attach the recipe to the top of the container. Everyone can use containers like that after they receive them and I've always had happy teachers thank me.
