I'm a first time mom of a 9 1/2 month old daughter. She's very active and alert and full of personality and TALL like her daddy! She's off the charts as far as her weight and height (but her height & weight correspond so she's not over or under weight) I was wondering, what are other babies around the same age eating?? What other table food can I indorporate?? She eats cereal and 2nd and 3rd foods and formula of course. I've been doing the traditional mashed potatoes and soft noodles and beans but I don't know where else to go from here. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone who responded... all the advice gave me some insight and reassurance. I think Alaina is right in the middle and I think I feel more comfortable trying some more "adult" foods. I like our dinner to be family time and its hard to eat and keep the spoon going for her so feeding her what we eat will help (maybe my husband and I will get to eat our dinners hot, more often!) Thanks!!

Well amamda I'm B..... I have 3 boys... 3 2 and 1 mo... with my first two by 9 1/2 mo they were off baby food... and on cows milk already.... they both are healthy active and right around the 50th percentile in both hight and weight.. so I guess my advice to you is do what you feel comfortable with. If you are comfortable your baby girl will be too.. just don't introduce more than one new thing at a time so you can look for side effects... like allergic reactions and constipation... the latter of the two is a surfire sign that she's not ready for the new food and needs to wait a little longer to let her digestive track mature a little more.

Good Luck...
B.

My 9 1/2 month daughter (her bday is May 9th) totally prefers "real" food over "baby" food. I'm guessing it's a texture thing. She likes to chew (even though she only has 4 teeth).

She loves avocado, cantaloupe and yogurt -- we've been buying the yo-baby brand, as well as the Graduates finger food puffs and the Gerber teething cookies.

Hope that helps

My youngest son is 9 1/2 months old and we still feed him baby food but he will eat stuff like mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Our pediatritian told us that we can start giving him cheerios if we want to. I dont think mine is ready for that but he loves the gerber puff cereal (they melt in their mouth).

My son is also 9 1/2 months old and off of the charts for height and weight. I let him tell me what he is ready for. He started crying all the time and was always in the kitchen so we started feeding him what we where eating. He stopped crying and would play and not be under my feet. He was finally getting full. He doesn't eat any baby food anymore. Recently he started throwing his bottle at me so we changed him to whole milk and gave him a sippy cup he is so much happier even the babysitter noticed a difference. My advice is that thet know what they want and can eat just follow their lead and you will both be happier

Hi A.,
I'm a home child care provider. I have 4 children of my own and then I watch 4 more, 3 of witch are 1 yrs old. Along with my youngest who is 15 months. All of my younger daycare kids have been on table food since they were about 9 months. So here is what they eat:

Breakfast:
toast, waffles, pancakes all with butter, muffins (all flavors), biscuits, cereal (like yougurt burst), yougurt, cereal bars. Sausage links and/or patties.

Lunch: mac and cheese, deli meat, crackers, cheese, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, hot dog (cut in 1/4ths), noodles of all sorts, spaghetti, mashed potatoes.

For fruit I buy canned fruit and some fresh these are: grapes (cut up in slices), bananas (cut up in slices), canteloupe, canned : madarin oranges, peaches, fruit cocktail, pears, red grapefruit, tropical fruit, pineapple chuncks.

For vegetables I buy: cucmbers, carrots, broccoli, cauliflour, corn, green beans, peas, mixed vegetables.

We have breakfast of some sort, for lunch we have a main course like mac and cheese and then a fruit and a vegetable.

I'm also helping raise a 9 1/2 month old. She eats just about anything that I eat. Some things you have to watch it just depends on how many teeth your daughter has. "Z" has 3 teeth. She loves to eat cottage cheese, small pieces of fruit, very little pieces of hamburger, chicken and roast beef. Just experiment with different foods that you eat. Believe me...they let you know what they want more of and what they don't like *L* Good luck!
