I am starting to think I need to see the doctor because my almost 3 year old daughter is sick every other week. It started about two months ago when she ran a fever out of nowhere. Then she got another fever two weekends later that followed with a bad cold that lasted for a week and a half. Then the following week she got the stomach flu and had another fever which was just a week ago and today again she is running a fever and laying around again! The fevers are high too, about 103. That is alot of sickness and she goes to daycare but has since she was 4 months old. I don't want to over react but I really don't want to under react.

What can I do next?

I just want to say I agree with the other two - maybe an allergy or it's something active in her that isn't going away. Best of luck - I hope she gets better!

I would definitely ask the doctor about the recurring high fever.

My kids have compromised immune systems, so we work very hard to boost their immunity with fish oils (omega 3 fatty acids) and probiotics. Chiropractic care also helps with building the immune system, believe it or not! :) We use Carlson's fish oils for kids, but Nordic Naturals is a great brand too. We are currently using Animal Parade probiotics, but Jarrow also is a good brand. Everything that I have listed can be bought at www.vitacost.com It's my go-to for vitamins! :)

Hope this helps!

No allergy causes a fever of 103. Take your kid to the doctor and see what's up. ASAP

I would take her to the doctor with the high fever today so that the doctor can run whatever tests he needs to while it is active in her body. There is something going on and its sad that she is so sick, but it is not normal, and my doc says anything that last more than 2 weeks off and on is a reason to be seen, so give them a call and get her in!

could be an allergy. was there some new food introduced? some new spice? new carpet in her room?

I would talk to an allergy specialist.

Updated:
Yes, a food allergy CAN cause a fever of 103. Been there. Lived that.

Slow down or space out her immunizations, so as not to overload her immune system. Make sure she has normal, healthy exposure to everyday germs and dirt (no wiping every surface with bleach wipes constantly), no hand sanitizer unless necessary and soap/water isn't available, and take her to a chiropractor regularly (nervous system in the spinal column, spinal column aligned..no nervous system interference, healthy immune system response!)

DD was in daycare from 7 weeks old & was over all of that by age 2 years. I think some kids just get sick more than others & there's not much you can do about it. Does she have a healthy, vitamin filled diet? What about hand washing, are you diligent with it? Teach her not to touch her face or stick her hands in her mouth.

That being said, I do think it sounds excessive. I think I'd be asking the Dr. some questions.

Kids can get sick a lot, when at Preschool or Daycare.
Even for adults. I have a friend, that worked at a school. For the first year or so, she got sick a LOT. Until her body/immunity got used to that place.

Kids this age, are also very touchy. They touch so many things, they have grubby hands, they are not at the most hygienic age, other kids have runny noses and they touch each other and other things etc. And they get sick. And viruses can live on surfaces, for awhile.
Our Pediatrician said, that because of that, young kids get sick a lot. Then from about 7 years old, it lessens.

When my son went to Preschool, he got sick a lot. And then when he started Kindergarten. Then he was fine.
He once got back to back, colds. One being a stomach flu. And the fever thing, like yours had/has. But the Pediatrician said, it was not a relapse... but another virus. Being there are SO many strains out there. And once sick, the body is still recovering, but they can get sick again.

As I said, my son got sick, just like yours, when he started school.
And per seasons, there are certain viruses, that go around.
Are other kids at your child's Daycare, sick too or have been sick?
If so, then it is just making its rounds.
And young kids, are touchy.

Allergies, do not cause, fever.

At this age, versus a baby.... kids are a lot more interactive. They touch so many surfaces and other kids too.

Did you take, your child to the Doctor? You want to make sure, her "cold" and symptoms get diagnosed. And that it does not get worse.

You may have already considered this, however, aside from the flu the other symptoms sound like the coming in for molars. My son went through that around that age and he was miserable. Hope that helps.
