You're probably killing off her good bacteria by cleaning too much. Did you know there's a correlation between kids kept too clean and those kids growing up to have MS? There is. A person can be too clean.
My daugther has been sick 3 times in the past 6 weeks. First, Dec 11 she was sick for 2 days with fever and vomiting.. the second time, she started with a fever and vomiting on Christmas Day.. it lasted 2 days and then she started up with diarhea. Now, Sunday she started with another fever and vomited once.. she has had a slight fever of 100* for the past 2 days.. not other symptoms. Is this normal? I'm just wondering if there may be a bigger issue that I'm missing here. 3 times in the past 6 weeks seems a bit excessive. We are fanaticle about hand washing and I practically disinfected our entire home after each time she was sick. She does not attend a daycare or preschool and does not have any other siblings. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
We have an appointment set up with her doctor this evening. I'm always hesitant on bringing her to the doctor because it is always more stressful than helpful. I was hoping to get input from other mothers/fathers and perhaps skip the doctors visit altogether. In my opinion, most doctors now-a-days don't know squat and do more harm than good.
Thanks for all the responses. They definately made me feel alot better. I will try to take it easy with all the disinfecting products! I also canceled the appointment with her doctor. :) Thanks everyone!

Viruses live on surfaces for several days.
Toddlers and young children are very touchy. They touch so many things everyday and are always putting their hands to their face.
Viruses can be contracted at any time.
And there are so many different viruses.
Once my son was sick twice in a row. I took him to the Doctor. The Doctor said, it was not a relapse, but a different virus he had. 2 different illnesses, even if it SEEMED the same.
Viruses are airborne and/or contracted via surfaces.
Or sometimes, a person in their life could simply be a carrier, to an illness.
Or, do you have other children in the home? She could have gotten sick from them too.
Did you take, your child to the Pediatrician?
You said she doesn't go to daycare or preschool and only goes to the park. But I'm sure she is also with you when you run errands and to go the store or mall, and other places. Every single thing has germs on it. It is NOT only contact with other children, that gets a person sick.
Her body may not be able to fight off germs/bacteria because you're trying to erradicate them all, it's a fact, and not just recognized by doctors. My nephew was always getting sick as a toddler, the doctor told her to stop using anti-bacterial soap as regular soap kills germs by nature, the anti-bacterial one has caused "super bacteria" to develop, back off with the disinfectant and anti-bacterial cleaners, and let him get dirty, play in dirt and be around other children his age so his immune system could learn to do it's job to protect him. My sister was horrified, but it worked.
Children touch everything in and out the home, put their hands and things in their mouth, touch their eyes and noses, they will get sick. She will get sick whenever she starts any type of school, because she'll be exposed to new germs. And someone in your home may be harboring/carrying whatever she keeps getting, without getting sick themselves, or being exposed to it at work and bringing it home. It's normal.
with a toddler... they can be teething and have extra mucus.. so it upsets their stomach and thy vomit.
there are so many viruses.. at taht age... my daughter.. every virus had a fever and vomiting.. even if it wasnt really a vomiting virus.. more liek a cold.. yup seh vomited.. it will get better as seh gets older and has more antibodies to all the kid germs
Sounds pretty normal. Kids that age get sick A LOT. Her immune system has to be strengethened and frequent sicknesses are to be expected.
Stop disinfecting so much, you may be making it worse, not better.
I probably wouldn't go to the doctor for something like what you're describing, honestly.
Have you considered a possible food allergy? Something new that she tried over the holidays? You could keep a food journal for 3 - 4 weeks and see if you find a pattern.
Have you gave her anything diff/ to eat? I'm not sure. I wld go to the Drs too.
My kids were sick quite alot when they were little. They had to build up an immunity.
I did not go crazy bringing them out in the winter around other kids because germs were everywhere (Inside places). I fed them lots of fruits and veggies in the winter. I would make home-made soups. I did not use a ton of chemicals to clean their hands, no toxic wipes, toxic hand sanitizer ...just soap and warm water to clean them up. And I cleaned the house w/ cleaner containing the herb "thyme" that disinfected.
I took my kids on walks in the winter, too. We would sleigh ride outside. I used my stroller alot ! I don't think many kids get enough fresh air these days!
On the contrary, kids are inside w/ stagnant air and using anti-bacterial products (no good). Outside air is much cleaner and healthier. I used to open my windows to "disinfect" a room or 2.
I would not use all those chemicals to disinfect the house. You can acquire sooooo many chemical sensitivies to all those grocery store cleaning products. I believe that Lysol is flammable, not to mention, all of the other warnings labeled right on the bottle.
Yes, small kids do get sick more often. It is one of the hard parts about parenting.
Once they were in Kindergarten, they hardly got sick anymore.
