My 18 month old woke up screaming like he was getting hurt. I check his body and I see nothing visibly wrong. I even check his diaper and I see nothing. I touch his tummy and his crying gets louder. So I figure his stomach hurts... What's the BEST things to give an 18 month old for stomach ache?! I already rubbed coconut oil on it but still he cries.

What can I do next?

Try a warm bath and gas drops.
Infants' Mylicon Drops or something like that might help.

PB8...works every time for any of my 4 kids. We just open a capsule and dump some into their mouths. It balances out their intestines and calms a yucky tummy almost instantly....AND it strengthens their immune system.

Sounds like your baby has gas. Gripe water is great (we used Baby's Bliss Gripe Water) - you can buy it at health stores like Whole Foods, Jimbo's, Henry's, etc. It's a natural relief for gas, colic, etc. Also, Mylicon is good. Our son had colic and gas issues alot when he was a baby and we used both of those.

Try mylicon, gas relief massage, but if the crying continues, take him in.

I once nannied for a family. When I arrived at work, the baby (about as old as yours) was awake and crying. They thought it was gas. Over the course of the morning, he'd be fine and relax for a bit, then cry again. It was almost cyclical, and got to the point he was crying in his sleep, once every so often. I told his mother he needed to see the doctor; she took him in. His colon was twisting itself around and turning itself about to a point he couldn't pass anything. Poor kiddo. So, I'm not saying this is your situation, but if you see these signs, get him in right away. They correct it with an enema, by the way.

There is a children's version of essentially Gas-X. RUN to your local drug store and get some. : )

Give him a few drops (per instructions), then lay him on your lap, tummy down, and try to soothe him. This pressure helps move the gas out.

It will pass--hang in there. dc

does his stomach look swollen? Any fever? Call the pedie if there is any sign that it is anything but a tummy ache or nothing seems to help.
