Hey ladies... I am recently on a diet trying to lose that baby weight! I like to eat salads, but am having trouble finding a dressing that is tasty but yet won't blow the whole salad with calories/fat. Any luck finding a good one? Thanks :)

I like wishbone just 2 good. It only has 2 grams of fat per serving. Ranch is my favorite but the others are good too.

Hi S., I eat Kraft light zesty Italian it's new and has no preservatives, and I've also used wishbone fat free Italian. They are both great. I don't use anything unless it's fat free or light just because it's too thick otherwise. But, if you like Italian those are good and Kraft has good light and fat free ranch.

Balsamic Vinaigrette
1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil

Combine the olive oil, vinegar, thyme, salt, pepper, and basil in a screw-top jar. Cover and shake.

Enjoy up to 2 tablespoons of salad dressing with a meal.

Variations: The basic ratio for any vinaigrette is 1 part vinegar to 3 or 4 parts oil. Instead of balsamic vinegar, you can use any other type of vinegar (such as red wine or cider), or substitute lemon juice for some of the vinegar. Shallots and fresh herbs make nice additions, as does mustard. To ensure proper mixing of the ingredients, either shake well or mix with a wire whisk.

Any of the Paul Newman light salad dressings. My favorites are Newman's Own Lighten Up Balsamic Vinaigrette, Low Fat Sesame Ginger, and Sun Dried Tomato Dressing. Tom Thumb seems to carry more varieties than other grocery stores. Here's the full list ... http://www.newmansown.com/product_list.cfm?cat_id=7

I like Kraft Fat Free Catalina. it is kind of tangy and doesn;t have that funny taste hat you get with most fat free dressings. Hope you find one! Good Luck with losing the baby weight. It is something I think we have all struggled with. :-)

Lite done right by Kraft. I'm not sure it's called that any more it may just be their light version, but it still has a couple of grams of fat per serving so it tastes pretty close to regular dressing.

Also try salsa. It doesn't have any calories - of course if you're nursing the onions could upset the baby, so use carefully.

Hi S.:

So far I've had good luck with the 'Lite Done Rite' line of dressings...by Kraft, maybe? The raspberry vinagrette is great, so is the Italian. They're also great for marinating, too!

Good Luck!

I absolutely love Ken's Lite Olive Oil Viniagrette. You'll never know it's lite. It's not 10 calories, but it's only 60 and even when I'm not watching the calories, I prefer it.

I'm not on a diet and never have been. Best wishes go out to you who are on diets. My favorite dressing is lemon juice. Sometimes I use a little olive oil and vinegar.

The best is just oil/vinegar (use olive oil because its a good fat). Make it yourself and put whatever seasoning you like that day in it. My grandmother has taken to just using vinegar. I know it blows, if you have to have a salad you should at least be able to splurge on the dressing.

Hey S. my favorite salad dressing is anything that "Walden Farms" makes. There are about 10 different flavors and they're all O everything. The dressing is kind of hard to find but well worth the search! I don't know where you're located so maybe you could go online...I know it seems like trouble but you'll be glad you went the extra mile. Good Luck!

I really like Walden Farms salad dressings. They are Carb free, Calorie free, and Sugar free and taste great. I thought they sounded too good to be true :) until I tried them, and they have a lot of different flavors. I get mine at Sprouts, but I think some of the Kroger Signature's carry them in the diabetic food sections. Good luck with your diet!!

Hey, S.. I have a few other tips on how to add to the flavor of your salad along with your low fat dressing. I have been on NutriSystem since June and have already lost 15 pounds. Although I purchase my entres from them I still have to supply my own salad, veggies, fruit and dairy. I love salads but not dry ones. I use a low fat balsamic vinegrette and then I also ad some pecan or walnut halves and a little crumbled blue cheese. I'll sometimes also ad dried cranberries or fruit.

Maple Grove Farms Balsalmic Vinegarette or Maple Grove Farms Honey Mustard. They have about 10 cal. for 2 table spoons, no fat. EXCELLENT! We bake chicken breasts covered in each salad dressing and my family loves it!! I know you can get it at Albertsons. Walmart only carries one flavor I think and it is not either of those.

Lemmon juice is good too.
