B.C.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Go tell it on the mountain (Garth Brooks version), Away in a manger, The Christmas shoes, and a new one called One last Christmas (very sad but sweet song).
Hey Mamas! I'm trying to make a new Christmas CD and I have some of my favorite songs, but I want some new ones! I thought it might be time for a fun question on here! The song I have to hear during the season is Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song.
So...what is your favorite Christmas song?
Thanks Mamas!!!
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Go tell it on the mountain (Garth Brooks version), Away in a manger, The Christmas shoes, and a new one called One last Christmas (very sad but sweet song).
Alfie the Christmas Tree John Denver
Thistlehair the Christmas Bear Alabama
Santa Lost a Ho (ok maybe not for the little ones)
My favorite non-traditional is "Merry Christmas From the Family" by Robert Earl Keen (hilarious!)
I also love "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" U2
"Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah. Nothing gives me chills like it! It makes my heart swell.
Traditional -"Oh Holy Night" -particularly the Johnny Mathis version. I also love the traditional 40s and 50s stuff from Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby!
Others I love:
Holly Jolly Christmas
I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In (love Sting's version)
Christmas in New Orleans -Louis Armstrong
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas -The Pretenders version
Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree
Christmas Cookies -George Strait
Oh Holy Night, but done well and not a screeching soprano. I like the Josh Grobin version.
PS - I NEED to add that I DESPISE the stupid song about the shoes and the dying mom.
O Holy Night! Best rendition is Martina McBride's :)
I love Silent Night, I always sing it to my son (even when it's not Christmas) and it really helps to calm him down. One of my other favorites is Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. Winter Wonderland and White Christmas are nice too. It's hard for me to pick just one or two!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
The instrumental Sleigh Ride is my all time favorite
I love Bing Crosby's version of "Do you hear what I hear?", Bing Crosby and David Bowie's version of "The Little Drummer boy", and for a country one I like Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd singing "Mary did you know?"...and my favorite silly song is sung by (then) 10 year old Gayla Peevey in 1953..."I want a hippopotamus for Christmas"!
There are other artisits I just like to hear because I like them...like Michael Buble, Josh Groban and Harry Connick, Jr. I will just put their albums of holiday tunes on and listen. I also like the Sugarland holiday one, and I really am not a big country fan (nor a fan of female voices for some odd reason! But I do like Sugarland it seems??? Go figure!)
Have fun with your project!
Let It Be Christmas - Alan Jackson
Do You Hear What I Hear - Martina McBride

Silver Bells
Do You Hear What I Hear
Oh Holy night and O come all ye faithful by Steven Curtis Chapman. Wonderful arrangement.
Carol of Bell is by far my favorit!! However I try to rember what christmas is about to me. I love Hark the Harold Agnels, Oh little town, Silent night makes em tear up every year at church. Oh come emanual (Sp?), Got tell it on the mountan.
I also enjoy Jinggle Bells (The family and I like to sing it on the car when its snowing and we are looking at the lights), over the river and through the woods. All I want for christmas is my 2 front teeth. Baby its cold out side i super cute as well.
I would also think about what my kids have sang in christmas programs so that the little one could sing along. My boy jsut did Up on the roof top at his school christmas tree lighting this year, and he loves it when it come on the radio so he can sine along and to the little hand movements with it.
Good luck with you CD! I am sure it will come out great!!!
