O Holy Night is a favorite of mine and I also Love Christmas Carol and Christmas shoes. I just downloaded both to my iPod so thank you for the reminder and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
This is just for fun!!! I was just wondering what everyone's favorite Christmas Songs are. Mine are "Christmas Carol" and "Christmas Shoes". The first is about a little orphan girl who tells Santa" My name is Christmas Carol, I was born on Christmas day, I don't know who my daddy is and mommy's gone away, All I want for Christmas if for someone to take me home, Does any one want a Christmas Carol of their own" The second is about a little boy who is buying shoes for is mother who is on the verge of death. I gave descriptions so you would recognize the songs. I guess they are my favorite because they tell the story of true Christmas compassion.
My kids favorites are "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" and "All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth" Both of my boys recently 2 baby teeth each and I guess they can connect to that song. The other day, my MIL asked my 4 year old daughter what she wanted for Christmas and she responded "A Hippopotamus".
I've seen some other that I love listed here that I haven't heard yet this year and forgot about. I Love "Mary did You Know"
O Holy Night is a favorite of mine and I also Love Christmas Carol and Christmas shoes. I just downloaded both to my iPod so thank you for the reminder and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
O Holy Night is by far my favorite--especially when sung by John Berry!! Youtube it if you've never heard it!!!
All of the traditional ones. As for newer ones, I like Belleau Wood by Garth Brooks. If you've never heard it, I'd do a search. It's about men on the battle field who put down their guns to sing Silent Night... makes me cry just thinking about it.
I'm with Kansas Mom: "Mary Did You Know...?"
Beyond that, there are so many... my kids love the Chipmunks (...I still waant a looop de looop, me, I waaant a huuula hooooop...)
Love oh holy night. And traditional music. Funny song: grandma got run over by a reindeer
Silent Night puts me to tears....especially when sung well and at church. I also connect to being a mommy looking at my sleeping angels.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland is also a favorite....sung traditionally.
I don't like Christmas Shoes because it is more than I can handle....death of a mommy through a child's eyes. My worst fear is being separated from my children.
"So this is Christmas, and what have you done? Another year over, a new one's just begun....."
Remember it as a kid :)
"O Holy Night", sung by Nat King Cole...It gets me every time. " O Come All Ye Faithful", it was my grandfather's favorite song. Every Christmas Eve, I sing it at church, and I can hear his voice singing along with me.
My favorite modern christmas song has to be " Christmastime" by Smashing Pumpkins. I was a huge pumpkins fan in my teens, and this one, by far, is my favorite. It's actually very sweet.
As a child, my favorite song was " Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer"..
I have several songs that I like for different reasons. One is the Christmas Song (with Nat King Cole). I was about 6 when I heard this and I thought it was so cool and always wondered what it was like to see chestnuts roasting on an open fire and folks dressed up like Eskimos. I grew up in Southern California so I didn't know what all that was. Somehow I thought it was exotic and thought what it would be like in New York City during Christmas. The second favorite is I'll be home for Christmas (Bing Crosby). I grew up with my grandparents and I always dreamed that this song was about my mother. Always puts a tear in my eye. The third song is Here Comes Santa Claus (Gene Autry). I always found this song funny because instead of Santa Claus he says Santy Claus. I don't know it just became a favorite. My new favorite song reminds me of my 7 year old son who loves Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. My son hasn't heard your kids favorites yet, I'm going to have download them. Have a cool yule!
My favorite Chsitmas Song is " Hard Candy Christmas" by Dolly Parton. I also Love "Mary Did you Know" and "Christmas Strait to you" by George Strait!
I am a Christmas music LOVER- but surprisingly Christmas is not my favorite holiday.
