What's Going on with Me? - Omaha,NE

I'm hoping some of you out there can lend some advice... I just recently went off my Pill in hopes to get pregnant in the coming months with our second child. I've been off my Pill for almost three weeks, and therefore have been through one ovulation cycle, which probably just ended today or yesterday. But for the past week, I have been having strange lower abdominal cramping/discomfort. Not shooting pains, but pains similar to those when you have bad gas or on one of the first days of my period (sort of feels full and about to explode). I've also noticed in the past few days that I've become bloated and look as if I'm about 3 or 4 months pregnant (I'm really not a very big person, so it's easy to notice a little weight gain). I am not pregnant, and took a test to be sure last Thurs. I'm assuming it's due to the recent change in my cycle from going off the Pill, but I just have to know what others think... is it possibly that reason or could it be extreme gas that needs a while to go away, or is perhaps something else. Has anyone else experienced this after going off the Pill or other birth control? I'm hesitant to make a doctor appointment if it might just be gas and there isn't a baby on the way... and I almost feel like I should know my body well enough to know what's going on. I'm sure it's nothing major. I just don't remember feeling this way the last time I went off my birth control, or really ever to be honest... usually gas pains or pains due to PMS go away within a day or two - this has been about a week. Any insight??? Thank you!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to those who responded. I think I'm going to wait and see what's going on since I did recently go off the Pill. We'll see. Maybe in a few months, I'll be writing to tell you I'm pregnant!! Take care, all!

Take another pregnancy test in a few days. If the symptoms still persist, call your dr. Bodies change after pregnancy & giving birth. Maybe your body is just reacting differently to going off the pill. Maybe you're reacting to something you're eating (after baby #2 I eventually realized I get extremely bloated when I eat wheat). I took a pregnancy test at my dr's office, wasn't preggo, had a sneaky suspicion I was, took a test at home a few days later, and voila, I was pregnant. One never knows, so take another test, then call the dr.

When I went off the pill almost 7 years ago, I had horrible cramping and felt just generally sick, for almost a month. There is NO WAY I was pregnant, as my husband was working across the country. :) Anyway, coming off the pill was painful and yucky and I felt gross, enough so that I didn't go back on the pill between my children. Hope it passes soon!

Since you've recently gone off the pill, give your body time to readjust to it's normal/natural state. Those pills have altered that state and it's just your body's way of getting back to where it needs to be. After I got off the pill years ago, I had 1 regular cycle. Then the rest of my cycles were way out of wack. They didn't become normal till about 7 months later - longest cycle was 56 days for me. With cycles out of wack, you could be pregnant as I've had a friend get preggo after a month off the pill. On the other hand, you may not get preggo right away as your body knows what type of environment is necessary to produce and carry a baby.

Take your prenatals, fish oil supplements and especially evening primrose oil (helps regulate). Read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility (bought my used off of Amazon) to know what's going on with yourself. Chart your cycles/take your temps. Best book I ever read. You know when you're ovulating, when you're pregnant and the day you'll get your period -- sometimes hours before you even get it!!!! If something is wrong, you'll see it in your charting and it's helpful info to bring to the doc.

Lastly, be patient. Easy to say, but hard to do :) I'm never going back to the pill and until recently was using FAM (Fertility Awareness Method) charting to avoid pregnancy. Now I'm using it to become pregnant.

If you're 3 weeks off the pill, you are likely right before your period right? Probably just PMS bloating. When I'm on the pill, my bloating and periods are way lighter than when I go off. When I'm off, I start light cramping about a week before, my cramps are heavier, my flow is heavier. Once you get your period, it will go away.
