Hi Moms! I'm looking for a good hot instant cereal that's a good transition from baby cereal. Everything I see seems really "chunky," and I don't want it to be too hard to chew/swallow. Any ideas? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Oatmeal is good. You can make it as thick or thin as you want depending on the milk/water you use. This is what we did for our son.

Good Luck!

We always started with Cheerios in milk. The key to let it sit for a while until the milk soaks through the cereal. The cheerios will be very soft and easy to swallow.

I ground up dry oatmeal in a food processor so the flakes weren't so big and lumpy. It worked great.

What about Cream of Wheat? It's good!

We've done cream of wheat, oatmeal, polenta (made the consistency of grits) - i add fruit or juice for a little flavor like I did with the infant cereals, and she liked it. I would warn that once you try the flavored instant cereals, they become attached to them pretty quickly, so if you are looking to stay away from sugars and artificial flavors the little packets might not be a good idea, but they are extremely convenient.
