What Should I Pay Her for This??

I realize that this will vary by region, but I need some ideas of what would be fair to her and affordable to me...

I have some stay-at-home mom friends I will be asking who is interested, so I'm not sure if it will be one mom for all 5 days or 2 moms sharing the week so I need a daily rate, not weekly.... She/they would pick up my 4 year old from school at 1:00, take him back to their home (they can take him where ever they want if they want to go somewhere fun or run errands or whatever) and then I would pick him up around 5ish. So it would be approx 4 hours. I could give them snacks so that would not come out of their pocket. I need to know what to pay someone daily for that. I will be making about a teacher's salary so I am by no means wealthy, but I want to make it worthwhile for the woman/women watching him for me.

What can I do next?

20-25 per day seems good to me.

You should ask them directly how much they would like. That way if they pick the price and it seems reasonable to you, everyone will be happy. Here in MO it would be $20. a day. Also do they want alittle more on days when school is not in? Make sure everything is setteled before you start, this type of arrangement can sometimes be hard on friendships. Ask about late fees incase of emergency's have a back up plan incase your provider is sick.

$30 - $40 a day would be reasonable here in DC.

teenaged babysitters make about $5/hour. but they are amateurs. = )

your fellow moms are professionals and are worth more. Maybe $10/hour?

i pay $100/week for before/after school care. it ends up being 3 hours a day and that means i am paying a little more than $7/hour for larger group care for a 9 yr old (who obviously doesn't need a lot of heavy duty "care").

If I was you (and this is not what you asked lol) but I would find a sitter for this. Or ask a specific friend to do it. Changing sitters several times a week is hard on the kid. they can not make any sort of regular schedule. Some daycare providers do transport so check into that. But asking a friend to do it several times a week is not just a favor its a job. and they should be paid accordingly. I know myself I wouldn't do it for less than $20 a day and that is is really pretty cheap in the chicagoland area.

Well, it's basically babysitting. We pay our sitters $10/hr. So I would offer $40/day.

I have watched my friends kids and I charged $5 an hour, so $20 for the day would be reasonable I'm sure.
