I just got a couple healthier smoothie recipes I wanted to try out. First how do I freeeze a banana? Do i need to peel it or just stick it in the freezer? Also where do I buy silken tofu from? And would it be in the cold food section of a store like Whole Foods or an Asian market?

What can I do next?

Check your local grocer before making the special trip out to the specialty stores, that is, if it's not convenient for you. Most grocers carry a variety of different types of tofu nowadays in the refrigerated sections. Silken tofu is the softest type used for soups, shakes, or cheese supplements. Good luck!!

Yep, peel those bananas before you freeze them! If you have more than one at a time, lay them out on a tray not touching each other in the freezer. When frozen, bag em up and they won't stick together. Great technique for any kind of berry!

I buy silken tofu from the cold veggies section in the Giant (Ashburn Farms). I'm assuming other Giants, or other supermarket chains will have them, too. As for freezing bananas, there are different ways to do it but my recommendation would be to peel the banana, cut it into slices, and put the slices in freezer bags.

Silken tofu can usually be found in the produce section with other tofu and tofu products (fake lunchmeat, etc). It's delicious, healthy and can be whipped into a lot of different recipes. You should check online--there are great chocolate mousse pies you can make with it too that are lower in calories than regular desserts. Happy cooking!

Check the fresh produce section of the store. I believe that's where I've seen tofu.
