Does anyone have a daughter, or know of someone that does occasional babysitting in the Red Oak area? I found a lady online and she wanted $75 for one night for dinner and a movie with my hubby. I couldn't believe it! What happened to the days when the teenager would come put your kids to bed and talk on the phone all night for $25bucks?
I've got four kids but two of them are old enough to fend for themselves. (10 & 11) and then I have a 5 year old boy and 1 1/2 year old girl. All my kids are very sweet. Not terrors like some of these other kids I see these days.
At what age do you think it's ok for older siblings to babysit? My husbnad thinks that my oldest is ready to watch the younger but I'm scared of what other people would say. I know that he is mature and could handle it no problem, but I wouldn't want some nosey neighbor to call cps or something crazy like that. Any opinions?
I would not leave an 11 year old alone with three smaller children. My dad was military and the rule was you had to be 13 years old before you could stay home alone.
It is hard to say but the times are different then when we grew up. Do you have family or friends nearby to watch them while you go out? Maybe trade off with a friend so they can go out as well without kids.

I remember that you wrote awhile back, it seem like a lot of people ask for so much. I would help you out if i was closer. we paid a friend 40.00 for the night.Where are the teenagers that stayed on the phone and eat pizza all night? I think 11yr is a little to young to stay alone for more than 30 mins. Just be care. 25.00 is not a bad deal.
I live in Lancaster and have a 16 year old daughter. She watches my 5 year old from time to time. And does fine.
I guarantee you she'd be more than happy to make $25 for a night out for you. And she's very good at talking on the phone. LOL!
