My two year old is ready for potty training and there are tons of different types of underwear to buy, I've been told the thicker ones are better but there are still several different brands and styles. Can you recommend what worked best for your child? I'd like to find something that gives her the best chance of success in potty training.

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! We started potty training with my daughter this weekend, the first day was pretty rough but the 2nd day she did start asking to go and we did have a success! She seems to be more comfortable on the small potty versus the trainer seat on the big toliet. We bought a couple dozen of the Gerber thick underwear and it has helped to have a bunch and they were inexpensive enough that we could do that and pick them up locally. If anyone has any tips about the overnight transition, that will be my next challenge once we get her going during the day consistently.

EDIT: the kids CAN feel the wetness, with these underwear.

Potty Scotty underwear.

It is padded in the middle.
Very well made.
Worth the price.
You can find it cheaper on E-bay and in multiple packs.

Also, "Gerber Training Pants." Also padded in the middle.
Comes in 2 packs.
Walmart has it or online. Like at Amazon.

Used it both on both my kids.
LOVE it.

Both are 100% cotton.

I would not recommend thick underwear. You want them to feel the wetness. We put our son in character underwear form Walmart. As soon as he peed, he was wet. Only took a day or two for him to learn that "I have to pee" feeling.

Super Undies are by far the best of what we've tried, but also pricier. Blueberry trainers were great too. For under $10 you can get potty scotty or bambino mio thick cloth trainers which work reasonably well for a decent price. My son used the potty scotty "potty training in 3 days" program and it worked flawlessly with him (25mo old). He actually likes to wear the trainers still, months later so we put them in his underwear drawer and let him wear thm in his regular rotation.

The 100% cotton, thick Gerber ones worked best for us.

All 3 of my boys liked different kids of underwear. My oldest boxers, my middle briefs, and youngest boxer briefs. I can't suggest any brands but I'd try a few different styles and see what he likes.

Gerber training underwear are great! My son is beyond the training stage, but he still loves to wear the underwear because they're so soft and comfy. They don't dig in anywhere, and I'm wondering if he'll want the next size up when he outgrows these!

I vote for the Gerber trainers too! It's what my daughter used :) They are inexpensive so you can get several pairs, plus they are soft and comfy and wash well. Good luck with potty training!

I like the kids at daycare to start in the thicker training pants. but most use pullups (glorified diapers IMO - I think they have their place for traveling, weddings...when you're almost trained but really can't have an "accident"!) or thin underwear to start. It's just an "ick" factor in a group setting when all of a sudden there is a huge puddle that someone else gets in before I race over to clean it! The thicker ones soak a little more up so not usually as messy. Happy training!

My son currently uses the Gerber Training Pants. Found a 3-pack at Target for $5 or $6 I think it was. They're thick, so the kid feels the wetness, but it's less likely to get on the couch and floor if they pee a little. If they pee a lot, some may leak onto clothes or whatever else they're sitting on.

Those blueberry trainers look pretty cute though.

I used pullups and then I got the thinner underwear from target, it was more comfortable for my little guy and he could put them on by himself which he really liked to do.

well my 2 are 21 and 15 now so with my son who is 21 he was very easy and i used the really thick ones so if they have an accident it dosent leak on to carpet or hardwood,, with my daughter who is 15 i used pullups and then switched to the regular girls panties thin one's.. so it depends if your child is ready to start potty training. they both work very well good luck with training:)

I second the BLUEBERRY TRAINERS!!!! They have a hidden waterproof liner, so that he feels wet, but you have time to clean him up.
