My 9 year old son recently put BBQ sauce on his Mac & Cheese. He apparently liked it so well that he got a second helping. All I could do was gag!!!

My 4 year old wants me to serve his chicken nuggets with ranch dressing, honey mustard, and ketchup. I put them separately on his plate, but he mixes it all together. GAG!!!!

My 9 year old mixed picante sauce and mustard together for a corndog! Gag!! But I hate mustard to start with!!!!

Add on: My 4 year old will not eat Mac & Cheese, Fishsticks, or anything that resembles Meatloaf - Tuna Loaf - or Salmon Patties. What kid don't eat Mac & Cheese????????

What are some strange things you child chooses to eat???

What can I do next?

My son is 6 and will not eat macaroni and cheese or drink chocolate milk. He doesn't eat anything "strange" per say but will eat every fruit except mango and blackberries. He loves all meats but if given a choice will choose steak almost every time. He has more of an adult dietary consumption than I do sometimes. He also loves shrimp, calimari and edemame! He chooses the fruit option for a happy meal over fries every time.

I don't think your kids are eating anything that strange. Sounds like they love mixing their own sauces...good for them.
And mustard? We couldn't possibly live without it. We put it on everything.

My son has always been a good and adventerous eater. He will literally try anything. Frog legs, chicken gizzards, you name it. Talk about gagging!
Just because I don't care to try that stuff, I let him do it if he wants. He's 15 so there's no reason to stop him. He doesn't always care for everything he tries, but he tries it none the less.

My little sister and I used to eat mayonnaise, peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. I admit I haven't had one in ages, but they really aren't that bad.
My daughter liked syrup sandwiches.

I guess it's all a matter of taste and as long as the kids like it, let them have it.

It will be interesting to see your other responses!

That's not so bad! BBQ on mac & cheese sounds good actually!

My sis put ketchup on her watermelon! Ketchup on her rice! Ketchup on nearly everything actually. (When she was young)

My brother (older and ?wiser? now) announced last summer that he discovered watermelon with A-1 sauce was yummy.

In Utah there is this yummy sauce called Fry Sauce but it's basically mayo and ketchup mixed together (the home version, not sure what the ingredients of the "restaurant version" are) For fries, burgers, whatever else you'd use a condiment for.

Let your kids experiment (so long as they eat the results LOL) and try not to gag too much - for all you know they might be doing those outrageous stuff just to get mom grossed out! ;-) Sounds like they like flavor on their foods :-) My son has mixed dressing & condiments together for dipping, that are totally unappetizing to me but hey, if he eats, fine.

My son eats sour kraut(sp). He mixes mayo and ketchup puts on cukes, that's like russian dressing to me.
I dunk my tuna sanwiches in milk. I also dunk pizza in pepsi. Totally grosses out people. My son also does the same.
My hubs covers his popcorn with the sugary powder of a pixie stix.
My uncle used to smother his baked beans with mayo/mustard combo

Mmmm smokey mac! Sounds delicious!

It's not my kids that really eat the strange things--it's ME! I LOVE a Pizza Hut pizza minus the sauce, but with just cheese, banana peppers and pineapple and ranch dressing on the side. I also LOVE saltine crackers with Miracle Whip (my grandfather got me started on that one, so it wasn't a pregnancy issue). Also like peanut butter and pickle sandwiches :)

My son is a picky but adventurous eater. The weirdest thing he has eaten was one of those lollipops that has a bug in it. He ate alligator and calimari. He likes sardines, dandelion greens, and alfalfa sprouts. Vegetable quiche he calls "Eggbert Pie". He'll ask me to batter and fry something unusual like pickles, green peppers, or red onions. He tried but didn't eat much of fried chicken livers, frogs legs, and liverwurst. (but he won't eat a hamburger!)

I am laughing....my children eat brain. :) G A G
my husband is from Mexico City and it's pretty common to eat "tacos de cesos (brain tacos) and tacos de lengua (tongue tacos)". They also eat "chicharos" (I think that's the name) which is fried pork skin chips! GAG!
So, I don't think what your kids are eating is wierd!

My daughter likes mustard with her fish sticks. She doesn't like potatoes: no fries (what kind of kid doesn't eat fries!!!), no baked potatoes, no sweet potatoes, maybe a bite or two of mashed potatoes; but she'll eat chips!

When I was a kid, I remember eating jelly & luncheon meat sandwiches.

I love to drink milk with my popcorn (hey they have corn cereals, so what's the difference), I think it's the whole salty & sweet thing.

My three year old eats catsup on her salad. I don't like catsup myself so, of course, I think its gross. But, hey, she eats salad.

My grandmother eats peanut butter and onion sandwiches.

WH...go fry sauce! One of the worst things about not living in Utah anymore. Grew up on that stuff. The real stuff has buttermilk in it. Did you used to eat it at Artic Circle?
