You don't need an app. You can use oneConnect (that comes on your iTouch) with any email address. Here's the full directions: http://www.wikihow.com/Text-on-an-iPod-Touch
I just got a new iPod Touch today. I know people who text on these things. How do you do it?
I can't find oneConnect anywhere. Is it supposed to be pre-installed? I can't find it at the app store either!

I got Text Now and Ilove it. I am now a beta tester for their phone call feature and am excited to try that out. Just remember that in order for you to get and send text, you have to be connected to the internet. It's a great back up for my phone because I always leave it places or I have to pay extra on my phone to send pics so I just use my ipod! Love it!!
**One thing about the emailing thing is that it can only do it to certian numbers. Like my son's dad. Cant text him. But with my app I can. I also got unlimited text for $3.99. There is a free lite app you can try too.
Text Free or Text Free with Voice are what we all use. Mostly the Text Free with Voice as it can also be used as a phone and has free incoming calls and free calls to other Text Free with Voice users (and a limited amount of free other outgoing calls). You just have to have internet access to use these (e.g., wireless). Our family and friends love it.
My dd and I both use Text Free. You get a phone number to use.
