So i was diagnosed w/ gestaional diabetes and have been on the diet for 3 days. My blood sugars have been with in range for all three days, (and I went cold turkey on soda). This moring I ate breakfast and started cleaning house. At hour mark I checked blood was at 119, then shortly after I felt really weak, like it hit me out of no where. I felt like i had to sit down right away or I migh tfall down. I sat down and got a banana for a snack and water ( I have been drinking tons of water). I dont know if I pushed myself to hard cleaning, or if its just my body adjusting to new diet or what, should I be concerned? I am starting to feel a little bit better but not 100%

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies, I talked with the nurse and she said it was my body adjusting to new diet. Also if I add a protien to my breakfast (all I had was 2 mini bagles and cream cheese) it will help my sugars balance better through out the day. She also said its a trail and error woth certain things until I figure out how my body works with the new diet. I am keeping a food diary to help. Fun stuff :) I am feeling better now after sitting on the couch and eating the banana so thats good.

I had something similar. Although I was not diagnosed with diabetes, my sugar was borderline. I also felt week because I cut down on breads, etc. The doctor told me that it was my body adjusting and to take it easy and to really listen to your body when you are pregnant. Unless you pass out, I wouldn't see any reason to be alarmed. But if you are a nervous nancy like I was, you can still call the nurse, they are there to help...for reassurance. There is no harm in that! That is why they are there!!! : )

Sounds like your blood sugar got too low. Activity can make your blood sugar sink. I think one of the most important things when dealing with diabetes is to eat your healthy meals along with healthy snacks throughout the day. Especially when doing a lot of activity.

(FYI My dad has diabetes and I've seen his sugar sink many times.)
