Have you been to Tahiti, French Polynesia, or Bora Bora? What would you do again? What would you avoid?
My wife and I have wanted to go to these islands for a long time. We are taking a cruise on Princess Cruise lines. They are on our bucket list. I've read the travelers notes that the travel agencies publish, but it seems there is a lot of editing so I'm asking the smartest moms in the world about your experiences.
Thank you so much for your input.

So What Happened?

BTW, this is our 20th cruise. We are sailing on the 22nd of March. I'll let you know how it went when we get back.
Thanks for all the advice and your congratulations. You make me feel good.

I haven't been 8kidsdad but I wanted to congratulate you! Woo-hoo that sounds fun!

This is one of my favorite sites for cruise tips: cruisecritic.com. They have some great message boards and I bet people there would have helpful ideas for you.

Good luck and have a wonderful time.

Congrats and enjoy!! Will you have a chance to stay in one of those places in an above water bungalow? If so, you should - even if for two nights before or after the cruise. And try to fly in on a water plane. A great place to have that experience.

Jealous!!

P.S. Don't forget to checkout vacationstogo.com Great 90 day ticker!!

If you haven't already, check out the discussion forums on www.cruisecritic.com There is so much excellent information there. You can ask specific questions and get answers from past cruisers, so it's really helpful. You can do searches for different places and see what people have said. There are message boards for each cruise line, for different regions/ports, and for different types of travelers (i.e. traveling with families, with disabilities, etc)

Have fun! I wish I was going!

Sounds wonderful. I wouldn't avoid anything - except insects. See what TripAdvisor has to say - they are a great resource.

I have friends who are marine scientists in Moorea, French Polynesia. My tip is to learn how to scuba before you go, and then dive, dive, dive.

Congrats! I have never been to that part of the world, so I can't make specific suggestions. I will say, however, that if I was planning a trip like that, I wouldn't rely on material from travel agencies to decide everything. You will probably get more information from a guide book. Lonely Planet is a good reliable source, and I'm sure they have books for that area. Take a look at them in your bookstore...

Have a great time!

Congrats! Sounds like a wonderful trip!

My first thought would be... are there any vaccinations you might need for travel in that area? Hep A/B??

It's on my bucket list, too. Have a lovely trip with your bride and we'd love to see a post about it when you get back!!

Bon Voyage!

If you have never been on a cruise before, I would suggest a short cruise prior to a long international cruise. Also make sure you have travel insurance and all your medical and Rx information.

Some folks love cruising and some not so much. My brother and his wife of 50 years enjoyed the Alaska cruise.

Before you go, just check on the international news that is happening in the places you are going.

Definitely ditto on checking out Cruise Critic. Those people are experts on everything about cruising and locations/things to do and see while on a cruise.
Have never been where you are going myself, but would love to go someday too!
Congrats!

My mother in law went. She had a blast. She would definitely go again. She has no regrets or anything she would change about the trip. She even said there were more islands in the South Pacific she wants to visit as well as make her way back to Australia.

Have a fabulous trip.
