Water-proof Mattress Pad/cover

Our 3.5 yo son is solidly potty-trained during the day but still has the occassional accident during the night.....1-2 times/week. I am looking for a mattress pad/cover that is truly water-proofed. Currently, I use this cover I got from One Step Ahead that slips around the matress & then tucks under it. It's not a whole mattress cover, just about 2-2.5 feet wide w/plastic or rubber on the bottom & quilting on the top. It's not 100% water proof & /or has maybe lost if water-proofed-ness as it's been washed mulitple times. I looked at Target & they had no water-proof matress covers. Does anyone have any suggestions for covers or other alternatives that you can offer? We do all the typical things: stop liquid intake the last couple of hours before bed & potty trips right before bed. There are times I'll take him potty right before we go to bed closer to 10p or 11p which has sporadic results. We don't use Pull-ups & will not use them either....not only are they expensive, they're not that absorbent plus we feel it would be a step backward. Really, I just want some recommndations on water-proof covers cuz I'm getting tired of changing the ##@@** bed & hitting my head on his brother's upper bunk! Thanks!

What can I do next?

K.,
Target here in San Ramon has the mattress cover that is a fitted sheet of plastic. It's about $10 and it works perfect. I use them on both my kids beds and it has been fool proof.

Bed Bath and Beyond has them. Both my girls have the ones with a little padding on top with a foam mattress topper inside for comfort they are so roomy. My girls don't have "accidents" anymore, but they have saved me and their mattress a number of times when they had nasty flus and got sick in the bed or had a drink in bed that spilled. They are machine washable. I don't remember the brand name, but I see them there all the time.

K.,
We use the mattress pad covers from JCPennys. They are expensive, but do work. It has saved our matress's from many disasters. They are also waterproof. I think they are made by sealy, but I'm not sure.

I use a vinyl/plastic (?) zip-around cover over the entire mattress. It's basically like a bag, and encloses the whole mattress inside. I think I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond. Then over that I use another regular, waterproof mattress pad. With the regular mattress pad on top, there is no crinkliness at all.

Remember the plastic matress sheet that went inside his crib? If you still have that, put it crosswise across his matress underneath the "water-proof" matress pad - right where his bottom is when he sleeps. It works like a charm, and you don't have this huge crinkly plastic thing that covers the whole bed.

Good Luck!
