I am wondering what doctor do I call to get my son's warts removed from his hands. We've tried the OTC medicine but that stuff just hasn't worked for him. Thank you!
Dermatologist! I had them on my hands as a kid and the OTC stuff didn't work either. I went to the dr and he froze them off. It's been almost 20 years and knock on wood they haven't come back.
You should be able to just call his pediatrician or family doctor & ask. Either they can do it, or they can refer you to a dermatologist to do it.
The dermatologist is the route to go if everything else fails. The OTC stuff works on specific viruses so it's not always successful. My youngest had multiple warts on her feet and we were able to get rid of them with melaleuca oil. I saturated a bandaid, reapplied everyday, and they were gone within a matter of weeks...

My doc told me that duct tape works well. She said just cut a round patch of it and keep one on it at all times, until it is gone. I think it suffocates the skin and kills the wart.

When I was little, I had several warts on my hands including one under my fingernail. My mother put drops of vitamin E on them and then covered them with medical tape (the white tape that is about 1/4 inch wide). They do not go away over night, it took a couple weeks I think, but they did go away and I have never had them since. Do not use a bandaid to cover them because it will absorb the vitamin E. My mom got the pills and punched a whole it one but I think you could just use the oil that you can now get OTC.
I had a large wart on my hand and after trying everything i finally listened to grandma
i kept a small peice of duct tape covering the wart and it went away took some time but worked.

I've used our family practitioner for warts for both of my sons. None of the home remedies worked, whether OTC or some of the more creative methods.
I have my family practice dr. freeze mine off, but if he ends up with a plantar wart go to a dermatologist.
It does hurt, but the dr. will stop when it starts to hurt.

I saw this on the news. This mom used nail polish to remove her sons warts.
Put the nail polish on the wart and then a bandaid. Not sure when the wart will be gone but
the mom said it works. Try it out. Google it and see what you come up with.
dermatologist can freeze remove them an it doesn't hurt. I had one done off of my hand.
The pediatrician or dermatologist can prescribe anti viral creams which work well on the warts.
Back in the old days, they used to freeze them off....but now there are several topical things that can work. My kids have had several, so has my husband. They should start off with something stronger than OTC, but they also have some really strong stuff to if they are very stubborn.
The key to getting the cream to the wart is to use a file or emory board to slough off the tough skin on top. We learned this from a derm. After bath or shower, when the skin is warm and moist, do a little sanding/ abrasion to scrape the callous off. (The wart creates the callous over it to protect it.) The ointments or creams work when they can get to the wart itself.
