I have noticed several warts on my daughters foot. I'm assuming she picked up this virus from gymnastics. At first I thought they were blisters. but they are hard so I am assuming they are warts. Have any mamapedia moms experienced this with their child? What can I do to get rid of them?

Thank you!!

What can I do next?

First I would try the OTC stuff at Walgreens or somewhere like that...if that doesn't work. The doctors office can freeze them off.

Have you talked to the people at the gym? They need to address this situation.

Most likely your daughter has plantars warts. Our best success was going to a podiatrist. I took one son to the dermatoligist and it took a few sessions and then I took the other son to a podiatrist and it was much quicker.

If the warts are small - you may want to try putting duct tape over the warts. (Look it up online if you want more info!) After my son had the major warts removed, we found a smaller one and after two - three days of using the duct tape (shower, duct tape every day...) it was gone!

Good luck!

At the pharmacy counter of most drug and discount retailers you can ask for a product called "mediplast" It is like a giant sticker that you cut just the right sized piece to put over the wart. The sticky stuff is the medicine. Then just put a bandaid over the whole thing. It sometimes takes awhile, but eventually, it did work. That is about the age my older DD got a few warts on her feet too, good luck!

I've had Plantar warts (warts on the bottom of feet) on and off since I was 13. Some people are susceptible to these and others aren't. There's little the gym can do about this.

Use any OTC wart treatment that has salicylic acid in it. Put it on at night and cover with a band-aid. Then after a bath or shower, scrape at the warts to get the dead skin off and then treat again. If they get sore, stop treating for a couple of days. They can take a long time to get rid of.

Please don't have them frozen/burned off. This hurts like heck and half the time doesn't work and they grow right back. Unless a wart is very big or in a painful spot, or keeps spreading, just treat these at home.

If you leave them alone for long enough, they sometimes disappear on their own. I've had this happen. But only after I'd had the same wart(s) for years, then it finally died I guess and just went away.

I've used the OTC stuff and it worked well. Freeze-Off I think it was called.

I would go to see a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment.

Try apple cider vinegar. Soak a small piece of cotton then bandage over the wart before bed. Remove in the morning and repeat nightly till the wart falls off. It's worked on warts on both of my kids hands.

Sounds like Plantars warts. Go see a dermatologist. They can safely remove them.

Do they have a black eye in the middle? That is usually the sign that it's a wart and not just a callous. My daughter had a wart on her hand. We tried Compound W for a long time, but it didn't work. I had to take her to the pediatrician who put this stuff on it that burned it off. It blistered up terribly and was very, very painful. I can only imagine if it had been on the bottom of her foot, she wouldn't have been able to walk. If I were you, I would try the OTC remedy for awhile before taking her in to the doctor.

My daughters warts grew and grew until she had a huge cluster about the size of a quarter. She would not use the over the counter meds and freezing did not help. She started using vinegar and it didn't seem to be helping at first. But one day she just told me they were gone.

Since your not sure what they are, you should consult a doctor to be sure. Once you know what she has you can proceed from there with OTC treatment or something your doctor prescribes.

My daughter had one on the bottom of her foot earlier this year (she is 9 also). We had the pediatrician freeze them off - it didn't hurt her much though (would get to a point where it would sting then the doctor would stop). Maybe the pain others talk about depends on who does it. It was multiple visits to have that done before it was finally gone.

The doctor also had my daughter put duck tape on the wart in between appointments which seemed to help, especially in taking off the dead skin.

I took both of my children to a dermatologist when they had warts on their feet, and he was able to get rid of them (the warts, that is!).
