We like to go to www.sno-park.com (Snow park at Yuba Gap)
Hi Everyone,
With all the fresh snow that has just fallen, my husband and I want to take our daughter (age 13) and our two little boys (ages 3 and 5) up to the snow for the day to play and sled. Do you have any suggestions of good "non-skiing" areas to go that are perfect for an afternoon snow day?

There is also a sno-park up on US 50 as well. We decided to take our two year old to a place my husband used to go all the time, but they weren't open anymore. We decided to go past Sierra at Tahoe, and there was an entrance to a snow park up further on the right. I don't remember the name of the park. It cost about $15 to park, free to get in. They have a couple of little-little hills for the really young ones, and they have various other size hills. Head up early as it gets busy. A lot of people tailgate. There is a snackbar. We had a blast, and there was lots of snow. good luck!
2 places up 80. One just past emigrant gap and one in soda springs.
We always go to Nyack up 80. It's only about 45 minutes away and a perfect spot to sled. When you hit the Nyack exit, go over the overpass and there it is! Although we just went a month ago and had fun for twenty minutes because a teenager came down on his sled and hit my 3 year old who then needed a run to ER and 4 stitches later to the lip. Just watch out for the bigger kids, but it's a great area. As they get older Soda Springs has a great area for young kids...tubing, a little merry go round type snow tube and learning how to ski right there all for only $10.00. I think it's called Planet Kids and you can look it up on their website. There is also a snow park up 80, which is fun but you have to pay $5.00 which is no big deal, but Nyack is great and free!

We try to go to Yuba Gap (off of 80) but a lot of the time it is FULL by the time we get there. We usually end up at NYACK (the exit before) and we have had a great time every time! It's a great area for the kids to just play and sled. Have Fun!
My son and hubbie just went to the Yuba gap snow park - they had a blast and it is quite inexpensive. $5 per car and $1.50 per person. Suggestions go early - it took exactly 1 hour to get there. Bring some lunch although there is a snack food area - we tailgate a lot and hubbie said some people were doing that. Good luck and happy sledding.
