We are looking for a place to take our two boys aged 4 1/2 and 20 months to play in the snow. We live in the South Bay and don't want to drive too far. We are looking for a place that might have sledding or tubing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That's a great question! I had an experience in Big Bear where they wouldn't let us even be on the mountain without a lift ticket. All we wanted to do was show our 3 year old the snow as we had just arrived and weren't planning on skiing til the next day.

So, is there a play area in Wrightwood?

I took my four year old last year to Mt Baldy. We took our sled and just plopped down at the first snow we found and then we had lunch in town, I think it's called Pine Ridge. Cute town. So just drive up and up and up. When you come to a down go a little further and you'll see places to sled where the locals go.
There are places to go tubing too but expensive.
Good Luck. Cheers, Sophia

When I was a kid, my parents would take us to Running Springs. During the snow all the parks there are turned into tubing and sledding places.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will take you up to the top of the "mountain" and there is usually quite a lot of snow up there.

Tram Adult tickets cost $21.95 and Children 3-12 $14.95. Dine and ride passes are also available at higher rates Adults $35.50 and Children $23.00.

We went up there a few years ago with our son and spent the day. I would reccomend packing your own lunch / drinks as the food is expensive and not very good and the lines are long.

Also, the tram ride is an experience itself!
