Want to Know More About NAET

In looking for answers about my son and his eczema and possible food allergies, I've seen several people refer to NAET. So I recently purchased a book about it and haven't gotten very far in to it to really know a whole lot about it yet, but I know it's an alternative, non-invasive way of treating and ultimately eliminating allergies. Does this really work? I'm have never really been a big believer in alternative medicine, I really don't know much about it. It just really has bothered me not knowing exactly what is causing my son's eczema the pediatrician hasn't offered more than blood or scratch tests to determine whether it's environmental or food related, so I'm open to the idea of alternative medicine if it's safe and effective. My son is about 9 months old and his eczema isn't terrible, but enough to cause concern to me. So any positive and negative feedback on NAET would be helpful!

My husband Dr. Rocco performs NAET treatments. He learned how to do it because I had so many allergies, and more importantly, my son was having a horrible allergies. When it worked with him, we were believers...babies can't really have placebo affects after all! So, you're welcome to visit my husband's clinic for treatment. He is at Metro Health Services at Academy and Flintridge in Colorado Springs. The office phone number is ###-###-####.

Best of luck to you!

Are you breastfeeding or is he getting formuala? If you are BF it could be something you are eating. Yes ezcema is the body's way of telling you that there is a problem. Try cutting out common allergens and see if it gets better.

My daughter has many food and environmental allergies...she was diagnosed at 1 and we've been a restrictive diet ever since. I got fed up with "mainstream" medicine and sought out alternative treatments...one was NAET. Both my sisters have found this treatment successful for food intolerances (ie, dairy). I found a local Dr. who trained with the NAET founder and I really liked him. We went twice a week for months and involved only kinesiology/acupressure (no acupuncture or chiropratic like w/ adults)..I acted as the surrogate. I spent $100's of dollars out of pocket. After months not only did it do nothing it actually made things worse. Even this doctor was stumped by her and he had a decent practice (waiting room was busy!). She later was diagnosed w/ a immune disorder...and I got back in touch w/ this Dr. and he said himself that this approach DOES NOT help those with immune disorders like my daughter had. As far as I'm concerned a young child's immune system is still developing and I'm convinced that for some kids, like my child, it takes much longer to develop. So therefore I don't think NAET is worth it AT ALL for young kids....now for adults it may be a viable option. I went back into mainstream medicine world and haven't turned around...I have some great Dr's and my daughter is doing great!

Just my 2 cents for a Mom who has "been there done that"

NAET is amazing! It has changed our lives. It fixed my son's allergies to wheat, corn and dairy. It fixed my other son's BO. It solved my daughter and son's nose bleeds... the list goes on and on for us!

My chiropractor uses muscle testing and then allergy elimination through NAET techniques. They are Christians, so I trust them with my kids' bodies. They are at Colorado Health and Wellness ###-###-####, ask for Dr. Gail. It costs about $50 a visit, maybe more for the first visit. Some insurance cover part of it, especially if there is an injury involved.

You are going to love it!

Dear D.,

I did NAET Treatments on my son and they worked really well. I also did Treatments on myself and I am amazed how much I am feeling better now a day's.

My Doctor was Dr. Chernoff, Boulder
You can get her address on the NAET website. The first treatment was alittle more then they normal treatment costs, because you would be a new patient and from then on it's $ 80.00 a treatment.

If you decide to go to Dr. Chernoff, tell her hello for me.

Hope this helps,

I have never heard of NAET - however I have a product that can help with your child's eczema- if you would like me to mail you a free sample I would be happy too.

It has been clinically tested- completely non-toxic and it is amazing. Perfect for dry skin as well.

Just let me know and I can get it in the mail to you today.
I hate to see children suffer from eczema- it looks so painful..

I look forward to hearing from you..

Your question intrigued me, and I'm going to consider this. For now, we're sticking with National Jewish's recommendation. We do a bath, once or twice a day for 10-15 minutes. If only once, just before bed is best. Use either Ivory or Dove soap, unscented, just before getting out. Then use Vanicream while skin is still wet. It has done wonders for our son. His skin used to bleed and get infected all the time. Since starting this routine, we have not used his scripts except for one week while we were with family that had a cat. I will be looking into the NAET as well.

I could help you but you have to believe in alternative medicine. It's better anyways because it's a gentler approach to the physical body. Especially a child's. Maybe this is an opportunity for you to learn something new that can benefit your family for a lifetime. Medicine just masks the symptoms and have terrible side effects while alternative treats the cause of the problem with more natural approaches that are healthier in the long run. You decide. The two medicine worlds clash with views but I can tell you I had a lifetime of health problems that are now cured because of alternative medicine. It saved my life. Hope you find some peace in the middle of it all. Rose :o)

Our son is highly allergic to dairy, eggs, tree nuts and several environmental allergens. NAET did not work for him and I'm glad it didn't b/c we also found out what another response mentions about it tricking the body into masking the symptoms and the allergy can come back at any time. His allergies are locked into his DNA for now and we hope with time, elimination of above food allergens and continued work with our allergy specialist, the traditional route will be our best bet. I breastfed my son and his symptoms included eczema so once we figured out his allergies, I cut out all of the above from my diet as well. It was amazing how quickly he felt better and slept better. Eczema is definitely the body's way of letting you know something's not setting right. It's been quite the learning experience dealing with all of his allergies since neither my husband nor I have them. Good luck to you.

I did it for myself and my now 9.5 year old. I had horrible seansonal allergies which are now barely noticeable. My son has severe food allergies. Some of his more mild ones were eliminated and the more severe ones aren't as severe now. It's a big committment finanically and time-wise but may be worth it. Good luck!

I don't know anything about NAET, but I do know about having really dry skin and nothing to help it. My sis-in-law mentioned Aveeno Lotions, so I picked up some baby wash and lotion at Costco. It has done wonders for me and my son (now 2 yrs old). My hands used to be so dry, to the point of cracking and bleeding sometimes, but since I started using the Aveeno Baby lotion (and sometimes I use the baby wash, too), I have not had the problem. My son had dry patches on his arms and legs, but since using the babywash and lotion, those are gone, too. The Doctor had recommended Eucerine--that didn't work at all for us-- and Dove bar soap--that is what I use now, but the Aveeno seems to have made the biggest difference.
The 2 bottles of Baby wash and the lotion cost abot $13 at Costco (I think), but just a tube of lotion was about $10 at the store.
I hope I've been helpful. I hope you find something that works for you.

You might want to try some glyconutrient cream. Manatech makes a cream called Firm. It basically puts nutrients for the skin cells right on the skin, and then allows the body to right itself. The cream goes down 7 layers in to the skin and helps heal all sorts of maladies. My 3 year old has warts, and they are going away without pain, or scaring by using this cream. It has taken a couple of months for th warts to go away, but there has been no discomfort for my son while using it. I have also used it when he has allergy induced rash and it has gone away. Finding glyconutrients for your child to take internally would be helpful as well. Look on Mannatech's website if you are interested.

I have also heard that NAET just removes the symptoms of allergies, and doesn't cure them. This may cause even worse health issues in the long run. My son is allergic to may things, and it may be difficult to avoid those things, but it is the only way for him to be healthy.

I did it and it worked great. I asked about my son who as asthma and she said in a child she would not use needles but presser from her hands. I have not had my son in but I'm planning to. I did only about 5 times and she said I had 7 things I had. She also one time worked on my sinus (about 5 months ago) and I have not had any problems with my sinus.
The place is Clinix off of Yosmite in Greenwood Village. Just ask for the Dr with NAET.

Hi, D.,
Let me start by saying my older daughter (now 5) has food allergies. She started out being allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, potatoes & shellfish and she outgrown all except dairy & all nuts. She also had eczema from 4 months until 2 years old. We went the conventional way of dealing with the allergies by just eliminating the allergens b/c my husband does not agree with me on the subject of alternative medicine.
Now about NAET. I was treated for my food intolerances (caused black out headaches) through NAET about 10 yrs ago and I went through a year of treatments until the doc moved away. At that point, I was feeling pretty good so I didn't look for another doc. About 2-1/2 years ago I had some trouble with some seasonal allergies and I went another doctor of natural medicine (Peter Petropoulous, Chiropractor). What he told me is NAET (& also Bioset) tricks the body into ignoring the symptoms even though the body is still experiencing the break down caused by the allergens. This weakens the body greatly & I had to start from scratch again. If you've been reading about NAET, then you probably know there's acupuncture involved. For a child your son's age, I don't consider NAET to be non-invasive and do not recommend it. Pls let me know if you have any questions.

I had NAET done on my son when he was 6. It didn't work, and was a waste of time and money. Some things I have known to work are cutting out dairy (this worked for my daughter and niece), the homeopathic sulphur at 30 X potency also helped my niece, the lotion aquaphor worked great for my daughter, or, try to find a chiropractor in your area who does muscle response testing to find out his allergies. Regarding the chiropractor, some are good and some aren't at this type of thing. I went through at least 4 before finding one who was truely skilled. Good Luck!!

answers from Fort Collins on

Hi D.,
We went through dealing with eczema with my son several years ago. We tried the cortisone creams (helped a little but kept needing stronger doses--certainly not a cure). We tried elimination diets--learned a lot about food allergies. What I learned after several years of searching for solutions was that eczema is usually allergy-based. Stress can also be a factor. Food allergies were a big issue and poor digestion is often a factor with that. Changing his diet and incorporating probiotics helped somewhat but didn't clear it.
I finally took him to Elissa Blesch (Fort Collins) who practices BioSET. BioSET incorporates NAET as well as enzyme therapy and very gentle detoxification. By the next day after just the first treatment his eczema had cleared about 80%. That certainly caught my attention! Shifts were not that dramatic after the first treatment but over time with continuing treatments it cleared. He is now able to eat most foods (whole foods, we still avoid artificial colorings and flavorings and refined products because they're just bad).
I highly recommend Elissa--she's wonderful with children (and charges $55/visit, might be less for children). She does not use needles (unless you want her to) and the supplements she suggests are very mild and safe, yet effective.
You can check out her website: www.healinginsideout.info. Lots of info there. And, no, I am not paid to promote her.;-)
I would also add that I believe it is important to combine these treatments with a healthy diet of whole foods, perhaps eliminating problematic foods for a time while going through the treatments. Also, look at dealing with any stress factors in his life. All conditions will respond better to treatment when you follow an approach of caring for the whole person (physical, emotional, mental, etc.).
Good luck!
B.

This is long but I hope it helps! It was very interesting to read through the mixed reviews and opinions of the members of this site! I wonder if the people who said it didn't work finished all the treatments or if they discontinued doing the treatments once they "felt" better.

We found NAET at a school science fair! A young girl who was terribly allergic to peanuts went through the NAET program traking her progress and then reported on it once she could actually eat peanuts!

My sister is the one who actually attended the science fair and started her 6 year old daughter (then 4) on the treatments. Her daughter is allergic to just about everything (no really the medical world laughed at my sister the first time she wrote it all down...then they tested her and stopped laughing!) and, at the time, was being hospitalized at Primary Children's 2-3 times a year, 4 days each time, for her allergies. Along with her allergies she had terrible skin...to the point of bleeding and getting infected. She started treatments in May of 07 and has not been back to the hospital since. Because of the success she has had in getting better with NAET we started my son on the treatments, he too had bad skin and allergies but not as bad, and have seen great success! His skin is all cleared up!

NAET doesn't "trick" your body into thinking that it is not allergic to something, it shows the body that it can come in contact with the allergen and not have to react to it. My niece is doing so much better than she was before, but she still has bad skin some of the time. She isn't done with the treatments yet! This past week she was re-tested for grasses, something that she had been cleared of, only to fimd out that a specific kind of crab grass (actually a weed) had entered into the yard and therefore making her break out. They took a sample of the grass into the Dr. Anderson (utah) and he was able to do a treatment specifically for that kind of grass. Dr. Anderson is one of the top NAET people and often teaches NAET in Europe and throughout the US...he charges $48.00 a visit after the first visit. We were having a hard time paying for it so my cute & amazing husband started selling his plasma to pay for it. We have seen it do wonders in our family! My father use to be in terrible pain when a storm would roll in (he has fibromyalga (spl?) and chronic fatigue) NAET has done wonders for him!

I can't believe the difference it has made in our family. As far as it being expensive...so is a hospital bill or having to buy medicine for the rest of your life! Last year was the first year my sister didn't have to claim all of her medical expenses on her taxes! How amazing is that! Well worth it I would say!

We are treating my son's eczema by

1) Taking a fish oil supplement (Nordic Naturals) every day
2) Using a generic version of Eucerin cream
(comes in a tub, not the lotion) 1-2x per day

Yesterday I took him for a NAET (http://www.naet.com/) treatment by our chiropractor Dr. John Daugherty. I'll have to update whether or not its effective.

After asking if I changed his diet or detergent, Dr. Daugherty mentioned that stress (maybe from new schedule, new surroundings, break in routine) can cause eczema as well (my son is 4 and never had eczema before). I was thinking maybe the schedule change from school to no school could be contributing to my son's eczema.

I have a good friend who recommended NAET to me. She had success eliminating her severe allergy to cats. She would have a reaction in a home where there had been cats there 5 months before who don't live there anymore. After her NAET treatments, she actually had a cat as a pet.

I have animal and environmental allergies (mold, dust, grass, weeds, trees, etc). I have been doing NAET treatments for about 6 months now, and it has made a big difference. I no longer take daily Claritin, and for things I do have reactions from, it's nowhere near as severe.

I feel that both alternative and modern medicine have good things to offer. It just requires some research, my own experience and doctors that you trust.

Hope that helps,
M.
