Oh I loved my son's wall decals. I plan on getting more. I had to take down my son's stars above his crib when we moved and they came of really easy.
Hi everyone-
I am shopping for wall decals and the description always says to apply to a clean smooth surface. The walls in my home were textured prior to painting. Not the old popcorn big texture on ceilings but an ever so slight one. Has anyone used the wall decals for their home and and have experience with them. Are they worth the money? Do they peel off? Thanks!

We have used both large & small decals that I ordered off of Amazon. We also have slight textured walls, sort of makes the walls bumpy, and I had no problem applying the decals. I threatened my kids not to peel them & they haven't bothered them & we've had no problem with them peeling off. They've been on the walls for about 1 1/2 years. Hope that helps!
My husband bought the sports wall decals from walmart a year ago when we redid my son's room. He (my son) has peeled and restuck on our textured walls with no problems. Just to say you don't have to spend a lot to get a quality wall decal:)
Hi! My name is K. and I am a Simply Said consultant. Simply Said offers vinyl decorations for your walls, doors, windows, and many more surfaces! I personally have put them on all types of surfaces including heavily textures walls. The main thing to remember is to make sure the product you are using is of good quality. The vinyl will go on and hug every bump and texture and will look fabulous! It can transform a space at little lost. Just make sure you spend time aligning it properly and rubbing the vinyl on the way the instructions read.
You will be surprised at how great they look! I have pictures of some real life examples if you think that will help.
If you haven't already bought your design I urge you to visit my site at www.mysimplysaiddesigns.com/K. and look at the quality vinyls we have to offer. Also, if you just have questions in general I'd love to try to help!
Have a great day!!

Hi Lillian,
I own a wall lettering company (www.fruitfulvinecreations.com). Your surface does need to be clean. However, it can have a variation of texture (we have textured walls). It can't be on brick or outdoor stucco, but I haven't seen it not be usable on indoor wall surfaces. I even put it on some pretty sharp texture last week, and it worked.
Yes, it is worth the money. ;) Because the vinyl is so thin, it matches the texture of your wall and looks painted, only better because the fonts, spacing, etc. is perfect. They do peel off easily when you want to move them, but not before you peel them off. However, the ones you find in most stores are made in China. From what I have heard, those do peel off and curl up on the edges (I have not seen them but have friends who have used them). The vinyl from my company is made in the US, and is the highest quality. You won't have that problem. (I also have a very similar price range for my products.) Also, I primarily do custom work, so if you want something you haven't quite seen, feel free to check out my site. Otherwise, I hope you find what you are looking for and really enjoy using your wall lettering! It is addicting, I have to warn you. Enjoy!
I have some in my son's room, he's 15 months so they've been up for at least 16 months and have had no problems with them. We have orange peel/splatter drag - what they put on all the the walls in newer housing in TX.
They're Dwell Studio so I'm not sure if they're better quality than some you can get at stores or if I just did them right and have been lucky. The walls are egg shell and I was very careful about placement, once they were on I really didn't move them, I used pencil to measure out and place them.
I use vinyl decals I purchased from etsy.com. They are heavy duty and don't peel off. Some cheaper ones do. If you follow the directions they should stay on.
we bought some for our kids rooms, we got them off the internet but I don't remember where, and the ones that were self adhesive work great they have been up for 4 years, and we have moved some of them, and there hasn't been a problem. but the regular wall paper that we had to glue on didn't last very long at all it began peeling within a short period of time and has had to be re-glued periodically
I'd definitely get them again
I bought a really cute set from Target and they immediately began to peel off within hours. My walls were clean and no texture, so I don't recommend those ones. I can't remember the name of the brand. That whole experience was a real disappointment, since I spent about an hour creating an underwater scene.
But when my older kids were a bit younger I believe we bought some from Toys R Us, and those are still on the wall today 8 years later!
I used them in my son's nursery. They have been up for a little over 6 mo. I guess it depends on what type you get. I got mine to match my son's bedding at www.babysupermall.com. I really am impressed with them. I used them as the border around the ceiling so there are alot of them. They went up easy and are so cute. I didn't clean the walls but they were freshly painted about 2 mo prior and are textured with a satin sheen. Good luck!
I got the ones on my daughter's wall from Land of Nod. Our walls are textured and they have stuck for 2 years now. They are 2 trees and were like $50. I would also suggest looking on Etsy, they have an incredible selection of anything you can think of for not very expensive. HTH!!
well, what type of paint sheen? any sheen, like eggshell, will make them not stick after a few weeks. plus, the cheapest ones can pull paint off, no matter what they say.
tatouage does stick(if shiny sheen, wash down with vinegar water before).
I wish i had the photos handy. my previous house had the entry and living area done and it looked like a professional did it.
We have textured walls and they don't stay on. BUt, I think it depends on the type of adhesive, because we also have wallpaper borders that stay on permanently. But the peel-and-stick kind curl and fall off within a day.
If you're not sure, just buy them and peel off only one, stick it on, and wait a week to see. I'm sure the store would take them back if they didn't work, especially if you only used one.
I applied them to the walls in my daughter's bathroom and they are holding very well. You will just have to take a bit more time smoothing them onto the wall. Make sure to start from the center of the decal and work your way out.
