Dear Moms, I'm usually seeking info through this valuable network for my child, but today it is for me. I really, really need to have a good haircut and would LOVE to have highlights in my hair again (haven't had since I was pregnant with my daughter in 2002). I've been and remain on a tight budget, so it hasn't been feasible to have this service for years. However, when I go (which I'd like to this week), I want to go to a very reliable salon and one with an extremely experienced hair colorist. My hair is thin and grows relatively slow, so I have to have a cut that I can live with and like the day I walk out of the salon AND I want safe hair color/lightening. I was very blonde from childhood through my twenties, but overtime my hair has really darkened and looks drab.

I live in Valley Ranch, so I'd like to go to someone in the area, if possible and have heard of Tony Cao's Hair Salon in Coppell (and what the costs are). I would LOVE any feedback (good and bad) on this salon or any others in the Valley Ranch/Coppell area. I want feedback not only on great hair cuts (creative, but respectful of customer's wishes) as well as safe, healthy hair highlighting. I can't afford to have my hair damaged, given how thin it is and how slow it grows.

Please help me out with some insight, feedback & referrals. And, if anyone knows the "healthiest" process to lighten hair so that I can ask around or request this process, please let me know that too. Thanks so much. Many Blessings - L.

Hi L.,

I have been going to Patricia Drake for several years now - she is WONDERFUL!!! Myself and several other of my friends and co-workers are completely dedicated to her as well. She is in Irving at Plaza Salons on O'Connor. I'm not sure if she could work you in this week, but give her a call and try. She's worth it, we just love her!!

I just went to Glow salon in Las Colinas on Sat. and had a great experience with the stylist named Tu. She was awesome. She did a great cut and full highlights. If its your first time there, make sure to mention you are new and you will get a 20% off your total services. Check out their website for the prices: www.liveloveglow.com

Try Style America in Coppell, I think it is in the same shopping center as Tony Coa. I highly recommend Marlena - she is awesome. She books up quick however

I went to Tangerine Salon and Spa (an Aveda salon) it's on Denton Tap just past Sandy Lake (in the Coppell location 7 Salsas strip center) and Marshall did my hair. They also offer a coupon on their site for $10 off first time customers highlights.

My friend's hair always looks awesome and I finally went to see him. I left the salon for the first time LOVING my hair and not wanting to go home and redo it myself, I can refix it like he did, and have received many compliments on it. I can send you some pictures if you want to make sure you like how my hair looks. I always think that's important, to like the person's hair that is recommending the salon!!

If you want more info, send me a message and I'll be glad to provide more.
