Hi Ladies,
Does anyone know where you can get Lasik surgery covered by Medicaid. I just got Medicaid and really would like to get this done. I have already seen the eye doc and know that I am a candidate for the procedure.
Thanks for any heads up.

The only way you're going to get it covered by any insurance at all is if you're legally blind and the surgery can correct that. Legally blind means that your vision can't be corrected (with contact lenses or glasses) to better than 20/200. So basically if you can put on glasses or contact lenses and read the eye chart from further than 2 feet away ... you don't qualify as legally blind.
Medicaid will not cover this elective procedure...they won't even cover contacts unless they are medically necessary. Obviously people need to be able see to see and glasses serve this purpose. Lasik and contacts are just options to make your life more comfortable and therefore something you must pay for out of pocket.
Not many insurances cover Lasik anymore. They use to, but the prices have come down a bit (use to be about $5000, but now about $3000 or slightly lower depending where you live). Many Lasik places offer financing, but I'd try to save up for it so you can pay for it up front and not have a debt hanging over my head.
I may be wrong, but I'm guessing Medicaid won't cover it. It's considered an elective procedure. I don't know of any private insurance company that would cover it either.
I don't think you are gonna find that. I have awesome insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield and even they don't cover any of it! Wish it did though! I'm hoping to have it done within the next year. Gotta start saving for it. I think most places will let you finance it though.
